The company prides itself on its commitment to sustainability, diversity, and inclusion, ensuring that every employee and customer is treated with respect and fairness. Sodexo's Campus Segment is a specialized arm focusing on delivering exceptional dining and facility management solutions tailored to the dynamic needs of universities and colleges.
Central Connecticut State University (CCSU) is home to over 10,000 students and boasts a vibrant and diverse culinary landscape. The dining experience at CCSU includes multiple outlets such as Memorial Hall Café, the new Hilltop Café, Starbucks, several retail venues, and the innovative concept ZIME. Sodexo’s partnership with CCSU aims to elevate the student dining experience by ensuring quality, variety, and customer satisfaction across all food service venues.
The Executive Chef 2 role at CCSU is a pivotal leadership position within Sodexo’s Campus Segment. This role is designed for an experienced culinary leader who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. The Executive Chef 2 will lead daily culinary operations across multiple dining venues, ensuring that food production meets the highest standards of quality, presentation, and safety. This role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities including oversight of menu execution, recipe adherence, production planning, and food presentation. The Executive Chef 2 will provide hands-on leadership, setting an example through culinary excellence and maintaining stringent kitchen standards.
Beyond culinary leadership, the role demands strong management capabilities as the Executive Chef 2 will handle ordering, inventory control, forecasting, and cost management to align with financial goals. Compliance with food safety, sanitation, and HACCP standards is critical to this position. Moreover, the Executive Chef 2 is responsible for developing, training, and mentoring kitchen staff to foster a positive, inclusive, and collaborative team culture. Collaboration is key in this role, as it requires partnering with client leadership and front-of-house teams to enhance the overall dining experience for students and staff alike.
This position also involves supporting labor management, payroll, and scheduling for back-of-house teams, ensuring smooth operational workflows. The Executive Chef 2 will lead initiatives for new concept rollouts, seasonal menu innovations, and ongoing culinary development across campus. Experience working within unionized environments and adherence to collective bargaining agreements is preferred, reflecting the collaborative spirit and structured operational environment at CCSU.
Sodexo offers a competitive and equitable compensation package for this role, influenced by the candidate's education, skills, experience, and training. The benefits package is comprehensive, featuring medical, dental, vision care, wellness programs, 401(k) plan with matching contributions, paid time off, company holidays, and opportunities for career growth and tuition reimbursement. Sodexo values its employees and strives to create a workplace culture where every individual’s contributions are recognized and valued, supporting both professional and personal growth.
