The Executive Chef role at The Governors Golf Club is a unique opportunity for a culinary professional to lead and manage the entire kitchen operations within this distinguished private club. Serving as the culinary leader, the Executive Chef is responsible for overseeing food and pastry production for all dining outlets in the restaurant, ensuring that every dish meets the club's exacting quality and presentation standards. This role involves menu development, food purchasing, recipe creation, and plate presentation, all with a focus on maintaining culinary excellence that aligns with the club’s prestigious reputation.
Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Executive Chef plays a critical role in managing kitchen staff, providing training, and promoting best practices in food safety, sanitation, and culinary techniques. The position entails detailed budget management, including food and labor cost control, conducting monthly inventories, and maintaining vendor relations to optimize quality and pricing. Additionally, the Executive Chef works closely with the club’s management team to develop and maintain operational standards that ensure high levels of member satisfaction and achieve the financial goals of the club.

Job Requirements
- College degree preferred
- 7-8 years culinary experience with supervisory or management roles
- State certified or Serve Safe certified
- Proven experience in budget development and staff management
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Professional demeanor and appearance
Job Qualifications
- College degree preferred
- 7-8 years culinary, supervisory or management experience, preferably in golf industry
- State certified and/or Serve Safe certified
- Experience in budget development, fiscal management, strategic planning and staff management
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Organized, proactive team player
- Ability to handle multiple duties under pressure with minimal supervision
- Flexible schedule including nights and weekends
- Positive attitude and professional appearance
Job Duties
- Plan menus for restaurant, private dining, banquets, tournaments, holidays and special events
- Price and cost menus considering customer needs, marketing conditions, cost and popularity
- Provide culinary vision to ensure customer satisfaction and meet financial goals
- Rotate menus seasonally
- Schedule and coordinate kitchen staff work
- Fill in all kitchen positions as needed to maintain service standards
- Develop recipes and food preparation techniques
- Exercise portion control
- Develop and maintain vendor relations
- Ensure 'A' rating from health department inspections
- Maintain sanitation and cleanliness standards
- Establish controls to minimize waste and theft
- Train kitchen staff on safety, sanitation and accident prevention
- Maintain monthly food cost and labor budgets
- Conduct monthly inventory and maintain purchase logs
- Manage employment activities for kitchen staff including recruitment, training, evaluations and discipline
- Provide orientation and oversee training of new staff
- Enforce company policies regarding personnel
- Stay updated on industry developments
- Submit operational, financial and budget reports
- Perform duties delegated by the General Manager
