Now, Tupelo Honey is seeking an experienced Executive Chef to lead its culinary team and oversee back-of-house operations. This role is key to maintaining the high standards of food quality, service, and kitchen management that guests expect. The Executive Chef will be responsible for training, mentorship, and development of kitchen staff, overseeing dining room service components such as line, prep, and expo stations, while managing financial performance metrics including labor and cost of goods sold. Additionally, the Executive Chef will work closely with store management and corporate leadership to ensure alignment with company goals and core values.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years experience in an executive chef role within a full-service kitchen, supported by at least five years of kitchen experience across various positions. The role demands excellent communication skills, both for interacting with employees and regional or corporate leadership, and strong competency with computer systems relevant to food cost management and operations. Candidates with a culinary degree are preferred but not mandatory. The position requires physical stamina, flexibility to work varied shifts including nights, and the ability to uphold Tupelo Honey's standards of excellence in quality, safety, teamwork, and financial results.

Job Requirements

  • Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to ten hours)
  • ability to bend, reach, stoop, and frequently lift up to 50 pounds
  • Must have schedule flexibility to cover all meal periods as needed, including ability to close at least 1 night per week at minimum
  • Must be able to move and process information quickly, making sound decisions and upholding Tupelo Honey standards of excellence in quality, safety, teamwork and achieving financial goals
  • Ability to conform to, and execute, corporate culinary guidelines as well as effective time management, knowledge of food cost management and restaurant profit margins

Job Qualifications

  • At least 3 years in an executive chef role of full-service kitchen
  • 5 years of kitchen experience including food preparation, line cook, fry cook and expeditor, including management experience
  • Computer competency with knowledge of internet software, Microsoft Excel, Word, and food cost management systems
  • Ability to learn new software and systems as needed for role
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with store managers, kitchen and dining room personnel and guests, as well as regional leadership and corporate services
  • Culinary degree preferred
