Job Description

Opals is a distinguished dining establishment known for its exquisite seafood offerings and exceptional customer service. As a restaurant specializing in high-quality oyster and seafood dishes, Opals prides itself on delivering an unparalleled culinary experience to its guests. The restaurant operates in a fast-paced, moderate to high volume environment, catering to a diverse clientele seeking fresh, innovative, and flavorful seafood options. With a dedicated team committed to excellence and a passion for seafood cuisine, Opals has established itself as a premier destination for seafood lovers looking for both casual and upscale dining experiences.

The role of the Executive Chef at Opals is critical to maintaining the restaurant's esteemed reputation and operational success. This leadership position requires a dynamic individual responsible for managing the daily operations of the restaurant’s kitchen, including overseeing menu design, ensuring operational standards, and managing staff effectively. The Executive Chef will play a vital role in managing the Oyster and Seafood Bar concept, ensuring that all food items meet the highest quality standards while being served in a timely manner. This role demands a blend of culinary expertise, strong managerial skills, and a customer-focused approach.

As an Executive Chef at Opals, you will be accountable for hiring, training, and supporting restaurant staff, ensuring compliance with schedules and performance expectations, and conducting timely and constructive disciplinary and coaching sessions as needed. You will be instrumental in fostering a positive and productive working environment that motivates the team and drives customer satisfaction. The position also requires hands-on involvement in daily kitchen activities, including recipe accuracy monitoring, proper handling and storage of food products, and accommodating allergy and dietary restrictions with care and precision.

This position demands a Food Manager Certification and a minimum of two years of experience in a similar role within full-service, moderate to high volume restaurants. Ideal candidates should demonstrate strong leadership and supervisory skills, excellent interpersonal abilities with a focus on customer service, superior time management and organizational skills, and an in-depth knowledge of culinary products and techniques specific to oyster and seafood preparation. Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and varying schedules is essential.

The Executive Chef will be a sales-driven and results-oriented leader who is passionate about people while upholding company standards. Adaptability is crucial in this ever-changing industry, and the ability to create a positive winning culture within the team is highly valued. This role requires dynamic leadership that brings energy and inspiration to the kitchen staff, consistently seeking ways to improve sales and optimize the cost of goods. As the face of the kitchen, the Executive Chef will also interact with guests at the Oyster and Seafood Bar, providing a welcoming and engaging experience that enhances the overall dining atmosphere.

By joining Opals as an Executive Chef, you will be joining a team dedicated to culinary excellence and customer satisfaction, with opportunities for professional growth and development within a supportive and vibrant restaurant environment.
