St Joseph Village, located in Coppell, TX, is a caring senior living community dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality care for the elderly. We are currently seeking an experienced and dedicated Executive Chef to join our team. This position offers a $500 sign-on bonus and is vital in ensuring an exceptional dining experience aligned with our mission to serve our residents with dignity and respect. The Executive Chef will oversee all kitchen operations and food service programs to comply with sanitation, quality, and safety standards while meeting the nutritional needs of residents. This leadership role requires a balance of culinary expertise and team management skills, including supervising kitchen staff, managing vendor relationships, controlling food costs, and maintaining inventory.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, organizing, and directing all dietary department activities, ensuring food production meets the required standards, and fostering a warm and positive atmosphere in the dining environment. The Executive Chef will collaborate with administrative, medical, and nursing personnel to align food service with residents' health care needs and coordinate training and development for dietary staff. This role demands strong problem-solving abilities, excellent communication, and leadership capabilities to maintain high-quality service in a healthcare setting.
Candidates should possess a culinary degree or equivalent experience, with at least five years managing high-volume food production and a minimum of two years in a supervisory role within a healthcare or long-term care setting. The ability to work independently, adapt to changing demands, and provide exceptional customer service is essential. The Executive Chef must demonstrate a genuine caring attitude towards elderly and handicapped individuals and maintain compliance with all organizational, departmental, and regulatory policies, including safety and confidentiality standards.

Job Qualifications

- training in food cost control, food management, diet therapy and budgeting

Job Duties

- communicate with Administrator, medical staff, Nursing personnel and other supervisors as needed
- plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate and direct the Dietary Department programs and activities
- review departmental policies and procedures annually and participate in making recommended changes
- assist in developing the departmental budget and maintain costs within budgeted parameters
- recruit, hire, train, review and evaluate dietary personnel
- schedule department personnel hours and assignments
- conduct monthly in-services and provide education for personnel
- attend workshops and seminars to maintain professional status
- participate in facility quality improvement programs
- serve on committees as required
- inspect dietary area to ensure compliance with regulations
- report hazardous conditions and incidents promptly
- maintain records of expenditures and food costs
- recommend departmental equipment needs
- interview and select food and supply vendors
- develop comprehensive inventory control procedures
- purchase food, supplies and equipment as needed
- ensure adequate stock levels
- assist in determining food quality and quantity
- establish food service production and procedures
- monitor food temperatures and document results
- foster a warm, positive and calm departmental atmosphere
- implement recommended changes from consultants
- perform other duties as assigned by Senior Management
