Job Requirements

  • Must be able to physically perform medium work involving up to 50 pounds of force occasionally
  • must have vision sufficient for the job including depth perception and color vision
  • must be able to fit and walk in confined spaces
  • must be able to climb, balance, kneel, reach, stand, walk, pull, lift, grasp, feel, talk, hear and perform repetitive movements
  • must be able to stand and walk for extended periods
  • must have a culinary degree from an accredited university
  • must have 5 plus years culinary management experience
  • must have experience with food control and labor costs
  • must have excellent food safety and sanitation knowledge

  • strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices

Job Duties

  • Supervises and trains all kitchen staff
  • responsible for food quality and presentation
  • directs and coordinates food preparation in café and The Ron Pearson Center
  • monitors daily performance of kitchen staff
  • prepares daily café menus and banquet/event menus
  • directs and coordinates activities of kitchen staff
  • inspects facility and equipment for regulatory compliance
  • determines food, labor and supply costs
  • oversees staff to ensure personal and food safety
  • orders food, supplies, materials and equipment
  • supervises and coordinates kitchen staff during food preparation
  • collaborates with Food Service Manager to develop menus
  • checks quality of raw and cooked food products
  • ensures proper temperatures and storage procedures
  • prepares and cooks various types of food daily
  • maintains and promotes positive morale among kitchen staff
  • enforces sanitation and safety standards
  • reports to work as scheduled
  • conducts employee reviews
