Job Requirements

  • Culinary arts degree from a recognized institution
  • Minimum five years of kitchen work experience in medium to large food service operations
  • At least two years of experience in leadership roles overseeing kitchen staff
  • Current ServSafe certification
  • Strong knowledge of special diets and large group meal preparation
  • Proficiency in menu planning and food cost assessment
  • Ability to maintain sanitation standards as per health regulations
  • Effective communication and personnel management skills
  • Capability to handle inventory and purchasing tasks accurately

Job Qualifications

  • Culinary arts degree from a recognized school
  • Two years experience as Executive Chef or Assistant Executive Chef in medium to large food service operations
  • Five years experience in kitchen work in medium to large organizations
  • Over two years experience in hiring, training, and managing food service personnel
  • Knowledge of special diets and meal preparation for large groups
  • Experience with culinary techniques including menu design, food preparation, and artistic food presentation
  • Familiarity with culinary terminology
  • Ability to operate computer equipment for data entry and retrieval
  • Current ServSafe certificate

Job Duties

  • Plan and test new menus and menu items while assessing their costs
  • Clean and supervise the cleaning of the kitchen work area, equipment, and utensils, maintaining sanitation standards compliant with the Department of Health
  • Function as the lead worker supervising cooks and food service personnel engaged in food preparation, cooking, and serving
  • Participate in interviewing, hiring, training, and managing food service personnel, including promotions, discipline, and corrective actions
  • Schedule and manage staff shifts, making independent judgments regarding work schedules and time-off requests
  • Monitor financial performance of the food service department and adjust operations accordingly
  • Oversee purchasing and inventory of food products and kitchen supplies, including quality inspections and accurate month-end inventory counts
