Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Minimum 5 years of management experience in food service
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English
- ServSafe Food Safety Manager certification or willingness to complete it within 60 days
- Interest and enjoyment in working with seniors
- Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient organizational skills
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to perform physical tasks including pushing, pulling, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds
- Must be mobile and able to move throughout the community
- Ability to work weekends and evenings as required
- Must maintain background clearances as mandated by regulations
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Culinary or hospitality degree preferred
- Minimum 5 years of management experience in a food service environment
- Experience preferably in a senior living environment
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English
- ServSafe Food Safety Manager Certified or willing to complete within 60 days
- Strong supervisory, leadership, and coaching skills
- Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office, email, and internet
- Ability to communicate effectively at various levels
- Ability to make independent decisions in stressful situations
- Ability to handle conflicts professionally
- Knowledge of budgeting, inventory, and ordering procedures
Job Duties
- Work with the Executive Director to plan and oversee community dining services and initiate action plans where necessary
- Coordinate menus for activity and marketing functions by consulting with relevant departments
- Control food cost and food waste while maintaining high quality food to resident satisfaction
- Flexibility to work weekend and evening shifts as needed to ensure quality checks and coverage
- Take food inventory monthly or as instructed and ensure inventory control
- Manage and control monthly budget spend downs
- Conduct daily workstation inspections to ensure sanitation compliance
- Engage with residents during meals through table touches
- Maintain records of dietary changes and communicate them to the team
- Order raw food and supplies within budget while maintaining quality and variety
- Assist in meal preparation and cover kitchen staff as needed
- Prepare shift schedules for kitchen and front of house staff
- Assist in menu planning to meet residents nutritional needs
- Monitor and maintain cleaning schedule in the kitchen to meet MBK standards
- Maintain records of coaching and disciplinary actions
- Participate in the sales process for potential residents as instructed
- Plan menus and cycles according to cultural, regional, and dietary guidelines
- Adjust recipes to appropriate yields
- Monitor food quality, portion control, and presentation
- Observe food preparation methods to ensure compliance
- Cook, carve meats, and prepare dishes
- Order and validate food and chemical supply deliveries
- Conduct regular Quality Assurance Audits
- Oversee safe and sanitary food handling and loss prevention
- Select, schedule, and conduct orientation and training for kitchen and front of house personnel
- Monitor monthly expenditures for budget compliance
- Adhere to all MBK policies and resident rights
- Report incidents or accidents immediately
- Establish and maintain constructive relationships with coworkers, residents, families, and visitors
- Maintain confidentiality of resident and facility information
- Promote teamwork within the dining services department
