Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Minimum 5 years management experience in food service environment
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English
  • ServSafe Food Safety Manager certified or willing to complete within 60 days
  • Interest and enjoyment in working with seniors
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and fast-paced work
  • Proficient organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • Must be mobile and able to move intermittently
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 50lbs
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Able to bend and kneel for cleaning tasks
  • Weekend and flexible hours required
  • Ability to work hands-on in a kitchen environment

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Culinary or hospitality degree preferred
  • Minimum 5 years management experience in food service environment
  • Experience in senior living preferred
  • ServSafe Food Safety Manager certification preferred
  • Strong supervisory, leadership, and coaching skills
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally
  • Ability to make independent decisions
  • Ability to remain calm under stress
  • Ability to build and maintain professional relationships
  • Knowledge of budgeting, inventory, and ordering processes

Job Duties

  • Work with the Executive Director to plan and oversee community dining services and initiate action plans
  • Coordinate menus for activity and marketing functions by consulting with relevant departments
  • Control food cost and food waste while maintaining high quality food
  • Work flexible hours including weekends and evenings for shift coverage and quality checks
  • Conduct monthly food inventory and ensure inventory control
  • Manage and control monthly spend downs to align with budget
  • Make daily inspections of workstations to ensure sanitation guidelines
  • Engage with residents through table touches during meals
  • Maintain and communicate records of resident diet requirements
  • Order raw food and supplies within budget
  • Assist in meal preparation and cover for cooks during absences
  • Prepare shift schedules for kitchen and front of house staff
  • Assist in menu planning to meet nutritional needs and satisfaction
  • Monitor kitchen cleaning schedules to meet standards
  • Maintain records of coaching and disciplinary actions
  • Participate in sales processes of potential residents
  • Plan menus based on cultural and dietary guidelines
  • Adjust recipes for appropriate yield
  • Monitor food quality including temperature, portion control, and presentation
  • Observe staff preparation methods and portion sizes
  • Cook, carve meats, and prepare dishes
  • Order and validate food and chemical supplies deliveries
  • Conduct quality assurance audits
  • Oversee safe and sanitary food handling and loss prevention
  • Select, schedule, and implement training for kitchen and FOH personnel
  • Monitor monthly expenditures and explain budget variances
  • Adhere to MBK policies and resident rights
  • Report incidents and maintain confidentiality
  • Foster constructive relationships with coworkers, residents, families, and visitors
  • Promote teamwork in service delivery
