Job Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • minimum three years of supervisory experience in kitchen or culinary food service
  • completion of food service safety and sanitation course or equivalent
  • strong computer literacy including Microsoft Office and online ordering portals
  • knowledge of senior nutrition preferred
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • ability to multitask in high-pressure situations
  • dependable with strong problem-solving abilities
  • availability to work varied schedule including evenings and weekends

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma
  • minimum three years of experience in kitchen or culinary food service operation in a supervisory role
  • completion of food service safety and sanitation course (Serve Save Certification) or equivalent
  • strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and online ordering portals
  • nutrition knowledge related to seniors preferred
  • effective verbal and written communication skills
  • ability to multitask during high productivity times
  • dependable with good problem-solving skills
  • ability to work variable schedule including evenings and weekends
  • culinary school or hospitality management education is a strong plus

Job Duties

  • Create and produce a la carte, restaurant, catering, and cycle menus for multiple dining venues
  • demonstrate quality and consistency in batch cooking, scaling, and quick service items
  • train, coach, and assist cooks to achieve their best when preparing food
  • maintain oversight and management of food cost and portion control
  • provide final critique of items to ensure exceptional plating and presentation
  • maintain inventory, par levels, and product rotation for food and supplies
  • oversee and assist with meal preparation and service based on established menus, regulations, policies, procedures and best practices
  • regularly solicit customer feedback and incorporate solutions regarding quality and satisfaction into meal and service planning
  • assist with menu planning
  • maintain and monitor accurate meal documentation records
  • assist with cleaning of equipment and work areas
  • participate in Food Committee and Resident Council Meetings
  • create a positive dining experience that promotes independence, choice and overall wellbeing
  • implement established policies, procedures and practices
  • ensure staff understand policies and procedures
  • ensure maintenance of safe food handling, labeling, storage, and safety and sanitation standards
  • perform weekly inspections to ensure quality control measures are maintained
  • work closely with Director to maintain emergency supplies and adherence to safety and sanitation regulations
  • actively participate in community and facility activities and meetings
  • encourage collaboration among team members
  • maintain effective communication systems with customers
  • lead ordering, receiving, stocking, maintaining inventory, monitoring and tracking food supplies
  • follow department budget for food and supplies
  • purchase from approved vendors per corporate purchasing agreements
  • review and monitor competence of food services personnel to establish training needs
  • perform hands-on, verbal, and written training to elevate skill sets
  • provide culinary classes to residents, employees, and the public
  • serve as preceptor or mentor for hospitality and culinary students
  • review, document, and resolve all resident complaints concerning dining services
  • assist with resident evacuation during emergencies
  • attend in-service training and work-related meetings as required or approved
