Job Requirements
- serv safe certification within the first available class scheduled following employment
- maintain certification through duration of employment
- valid food handler's card required if applicable in state
- 2-3 years experience as lead sous or executive chef or culinary degree preferred
- ability to read and interpret documents in English
- ability to write reports and correspondence
- strong communication skills
- knowledge of kitchen safety procedures
- ability to stand and walk over two-thirds of the time
- ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- willingness to work 45-50 hours per week
- ability to manage schedules and time efficiently
- ability to maintain professional standards and appearance
- willingness to work special events and transfer to other worksites as needed
Job Qualifications
- 2-3 years lead sous or executive chef experience
- culinary degree preferred
- ability to read and interpret safety rules and procedure manuals
- ability to write reports and correspondence
- effective verbal communication to groups and individuals
- strong leadership and training skills
- proficiency with compliance, inventory management software
- experience with Greek House Chefs App
- knowledge of commercial kitchen tools and equipment
- Serv Safe certification
- valid food handler's card if required by state
- strong problem sensitivity and manual dexterity
- ability to maintain professional appearance and sanitary standards
- strong coordination, monitoring, active listening, critical thinking, and decision making skills
- understanding of workplace safety procedures
- instructing and negotiation skills
- service orientation and social perceptiveness
Job Duties
- Ensures overall health of the account is positive and in good standing
- plans and directs food preparation and culinary activities
- modifies menus or creates new ones meeting quality standards
- recruits and manages kitchen staff
- purchases and orders food supplies managing budget
- manages employees schedules and hours
- manages the GHC App
- ensures kitchen cleanliness meets health and equipment cleaning standards
- inspects units for food quality, preparation, and cleanliness
- coordinates training for kitchen and service employees
- follows training manual procedures for equipment requests
- develops recipes and portion specifications in line with standards and budget
- submits menu two weeks ahead for approval
- submits weekly budget via GHC App
- communicates with campus manager on app reviews
- schedules and attends monthly food committee reviews
- maintains professional appearance in designated chef coat
- works minimum 45-50 hours weekly
- receives and inspects deliveries
- plans and attends up to 3 special events per semester
- maintains positive professional relationships with vendors, directors, and clients
- implements service procedures and provides training
- monitors scheduling and time management
- demonstrates knowledge of GHC Handbook
- performs other duties as assigned
- transfers to other worksites as needed
