The Retail Executive Chef position at Sodexo plays a critical role in maintaining and elevating the culinary standards across all retail dining venues on a university campus. Reporting directly to the Retail Director of Operations, this leadership role demands a highly motivated, creative, and innovative culinary professional who can oversee food quality, safety, and overall culinary excellence. The executive chef is not only responsible for managing the traditional retail food services but also for spearheading the university's E-Commerce Retail Program, ensuring seamless operations, menu compliance, and high customer satisfaction.

In addition, this role involves the creative development and management of retail pop-up chef locations weekly across campus, offering diverse and exciting culinary experiences that cater to the varied tastes of students and staff. The Retail Executive Chef will be entrusted with purchasing decisions, inventory management, food cost analysis, and production forecasting to optimize efficiency and profitability. A thorough understanding and implementation of Sodexo Culinary standards, including strict recipe compliance and food quality assurance, is essential to this role.

The Retail Executive Chef must also be proficient in automated food inventory, ordering, production, and management systems, ensuring that these technologies are effectively utilized and compliance is maintained throughout the campus culinary operations. Job Requirements

  • Associate's degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 2 years management experience
  • Minimum 1 year work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
  • Ability to lead and manage diverse culinary teams
  • Strong communication skills
  • Knowledge of food safety and quality standards
  • Ability to work independently and innovatively
  • Strong organizational and planning skills

Job Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 2 years management experience
  • At least 1 year work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, or similar
  • Outstanding culinary background with ability to lead large, diverse teams

Job Duties

  • Be responsible for purchasing, menu compliance, inventory, food cost analysis, and food production forecasting
  • Ensure Sodexo Culinary standards including recipe compliance and food quality are implemented
  • Have a working knowledge of automated food inventory, ordering, production, and management systems
  • Implement those systems and ensure ongoing compliance across campus
  • Oversee concept development, menu design, and the implementation of new culinary concepts
  • Driving innovation and excellence in the university's dining program to meet the diverse needs and tastes of the student body and staff
  • Promote customer loyalty and brand image, diagnose customer needs, and recommend appropriate products or services
  • Thrive on tough challenges and use innovative thinking
  • Promote ingenuity and innovation among the culinary team
