Executive Assistant, Deputy Commissioner/Chief Equity Officer

The Center for Health Equity & Community Wellness (CHECW) is dedicated to eliminating racial and other inequities leading to premature mortality. Through historical analysis and structural grounding, CHECW aims to increase awareness of harm caused by centuries of unjust policies and work towards rectifying these issues in NYC communities. Collaborating with community, faith-based, and healthcare organizations, CHECW focuses on social determinants of health and strives to improve the well-being of New Yorkers. The bureau comprises various divisions including the Bureau of Bronx Neighborhood Health, Bureau of Brooklyn Neighborhood Health, Bureau of Harlem Neighborhood Health, Bureau of Chronic Disease Prevention, Bureau of Health Equity Capacity Building, Bureau of Equitable Health Systems, and Bureau of Finance, Administration, and Services, led by the Deputy Commissioner who also functions as the Agency's Chief Equity Officer overseeing the Race to Justice initiative.
