Job Requirements
- Graduated from a fire service training academy meeting Firefighter I standards
- no more than two years of full-time experience in emergency medical and fire services
- pass a job-related performance aptitude test
- pass a physical agility test
- pass an oral interview
- have a current CPAT certificate within 12 months of application closing or complete a proctored 1.5 mile run in 15 minutes
- submit City of Redmond application and NTN PHQ
- no disqualifying driving violations or criminal history
- submit DD214 if claiming veterans' preference
- valid driver’s license with necessary endorsements
- meet minimum age of 18 years
- high school diploma or GED
Job Qualifications
- Currently employed as a full-time professional firefighter for two years or less or have been employed consecutively for not more than two of the past five years
- at least 18 years old at the time of hire
- high school graduate or GED holder
- possess IFSAC or Pro-Board Firefighter I certification or equivalent
- hold HazMat Awareness and HazMat Operations certifications
- certified Washington State EMT or National Registry EMT-B
- valid driver’s license with necessary endorsements
- demonstrated ability to complete CPAT or 1.5 mile run within allotted time
- ability to maintain clean driving record as specified
Job Duties
- Use firefighting equipment to extinguish fires in various environments
- respond to hazardous situations wearing breathing apparatus and using specialized tools
- drive and operate emergency vehicles including aid, ALS, engine, aerial ladder, and rescue vehicles
- prepare and maintain detailed reports and records
- respond to non-life-threatening service calls
- participate in hazardous materials responses, fire prevention, or paramedic duties
- conduct tours and public education including CPR classes
- perform equipment and facility maintenance checks
- carry out fire safety inspections and issue citations
- assist in emergency medical treatments and transport patients
- develop pre-fire emergency plans
- support department training and safety initiatives
- complete other assignments as required by department guidelines
