Job Requirements
- Physical ability to perform cleaning and maintenance duties
- ability to pass PPD (TB test)
- blood draw for antibodies including measles, mumps, rubella, chickenpox, hepatitis B
- COVID vaccination required
- flu shot required
- willingness to work Monday through Friday 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM
- relevant experience in environmental services
- ability to supervise and manage staff
- strong communication and organizational skills
- knowledge of safety and infection control regulations
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- minimum 1 year experience in environmental services in ambulatory and acute care-related departments
- preferred 1 year supervisory experience managing staff
- strong written and verbal communication skills
- working knowledge of MS Office Suite and project management software
- experience with EVS equipment and machinery
- bilingual ability in Spanish and English is a plus
- ability to train and guide staff effectively
- knowledge of infection control principles
Job Duties
- Supervises necessary resources for the Environmental Services department and makes hiring recommendations
- supervises a waste program ensuring proper separation, packaging, and disposal of waste per regulations
- performs quality improvement initiatives including rounding activities and prepares reports for management
- demonstrates working knowledge of cleaning, disinfection principles, chemical and equipment usage, and furniture maintenance
- oversees inventory control, supplies usage, and equipment repairs
- prepares masterwork and time schedules, coordinating vacations and holidays and reviewing daily adjustments
- trains new EVS associates on-site and provides on-the-job training including skill and knowledge development
- performs floor care and maintenance including hard surfaces and carpeting
- cleans and disinfects pharmacy, exam rooms, patient care areas, labs, nurses' stations, equipment, and common areas
- supervises subcontractors and EVS suppliers
- adheres to safety, risk management, infection control, and prevention standards promoting patient safety culture
- coaches team on infection transmission principles
- responds to emergency calls and coordinates staffing changes
- conducts inspections and competency evaluations
- contributes to improving patient experience, cleanliness scores, and departmental metrics
- controls expenditures within approved budget and takes corrective actions when necessary
