Job Description
Universal Health Services, Inc. (UHS) is one of the largest and most respected providers of hospital and healthcare services in the United States. Founded several decades ago, UHS has grown to a Fortune 500 corporation headquartered in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. With a dedicated workforce of approximately 89,000 employees, UHS operates an extensive network of healthcare facilities including 28 acute care hospitals, 335 behavioral health facilities, and 40 outpatient centers across 39 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, and even the United Kingdom. This broad footprint allows UHS to deliver comprehensive healthcare services that meet the diverse needs of the communities it serves.
Two of UHS's prominent hospitals in Southern California include Southwest Healthcare Inland Valley Hospital located in Wildomar and Southwest Healthcare Rancho Springs Hospital in Murrieta. Inland Valley Hospital is a licensed 122-bed facility accredited by the Joint Commission and serves as Southwest Riverside County's only designated Trauma Center as well as a county-designated Paramedic Base Station. The hospital performs over 4,000 surgeries annually and manages an average of 4,000 Emergency Department visits each month. It is recognized for its specialized Bariatric Weight-Loss Surgery Center of Excellence and the region's unique Total Joint Center. Rancho Springs Hospital, on the other hand, is a 120-bed acute care hospital that offers the region’s only dedicated Pediatric Emergency Services team for children aged 14 and younger, staffed by board-certified Rady Children’s emergency medicine physicians. Additionally, Rancho Springs provides the only OB/Emergency Department program in the area, offering 24/7 on-site access to OB/GYN physician coverage, and features the largest Childbirth Center in the region with family-friendly private suites. The hospital's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is operated by Rady Children’s as well.
This particular role is integral to maintaining a clean, safe, and caring environment for patients, staff, and visitors across these facilities. The position primarily involves performing hospital cleaning duties including cleaning patient and non-patient care areas according to defined schedules and approved cleaning procedures. It also includes the safe transportation and disposal of trash, biohazardous waste, and soiled linens. Candidates will operate various equipment for both hard surface and carpet floor care, such as buffing, burnishing, stripping, and waxing floors, enhancing the hospital's cleanliness and hygiene standards. A significant aspect of this role is creating a welcoming and supportive atmosphere by greeting patients, families, and staff, thereby contributing to a friendly and healing environment.
The role may require employees to float between Southwest Healthcare’s Rancho Springs Hospital and Inland Valley Hospital depending on operational needs. Appropriate orientation and competency validation will be provided to ensure smooth transitions and adherence to hospital standards. This position offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $21.00 to $30.38, reflecting the candidate’s experience and skill level.
Working at UHS provides numerous benefits that include a challenging and rewarding work environment, competitive compensation, generous paid time off, and excellent medical, dental, vision, and prescription drug plans. Employees also have access to a 401(k) plan with company match and a discounted stock purchase plan, alongside a SoFi Student Loan Refinancing Program. Career development and advancement opportunities abound within UHS and its more than 300 subsidiaries, making it an ideal organization for those seeking long-term growth in the healthcare industry.
Universal Health Services is an equal opportunity employer committed to fostering diversity and inclusion. The company provides a safe workplace where all employees and job applicants can expect to be implemented with respect regardless of race, color, religion, age, sex (including pregnancy, gender identity, and sexual orientation), genetic information, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected under federal, state, or local law. The company also takes pride in maintaining a secure and transparent recruitment process to protect candidates from fraudulent activities.
