Job Requirements
- Must be able to read, write, and perform basic math

Job Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- six months demonstrated customer service related work experience required
- successful completion of Environmental Services Department training program
- excellent customer service skills
- effective communication abilities
- capability to read, write, and perform basic math
- ability to work independently and collaboratively within a patient care team
- detail-oriented approach to assigned tasks
Job Duties
- Follows department procedures to ensure a safe environment
- sets up equipment and prepares necessary supplies
- corrects observed discrepancies immediately
- completes housekeeping assignments as scheduled and according to procedure
- reports uncompleted assignments and discrepancies to supervisor
- ensures chemical containers are properly labeled and solutions are correct
- maintains a clean and orderly porter closet
- performs housekeeping tasks including dusting vents, cleaning furniture, doors, walls, and horizontal surfaces
- maintains bathrooms by cleaning all fixtures, walls, floors, sinks, and commodes
- checks and refills dispensers daily
- collects and disposes of sharps containers properly
- cleans trash receptacles regularly
- cleans mattresses and bed frames on discharge
- cleans and prepares rooms for new admissions
- maintains floors by dust mopping, damp mopping, or vacuuming
- inspects own work for completeness
- collects recycling waste and transports to storage
- assists in breaking down cardboard boxes
- removes medical waste containers and transports them to holding areas
- ensures confidential paper containers are locked
- handles and disposes medical waste and sharps safely
- closes and latches chute doors after use
- ties trash and linen bags appropriately
- responds to spill clean-up calls immediately
- relines linen hampers and trash cans
- maintains bed management system and data accuracy
- plans work schedule anticipating discharges
- supports patient care team with coordinated duties
