Job Description
The Davidson Gundy Alumni Center (DGAC) at The University of Texas at Dallas is a prestigious event venue made possible through a generous $15 million donation from alumni Charles "Chuck" Davidson and Nancy Gundy Davidson. This center serves as a hub for hosting a wide variety of events, equipped with 12 versatile event spaces including a dividable banquet hall that accommodates up to 400 guests in banquet style or 750 in lecture style. The venue also boasts a spacious open lawn, surrounded by trees and equipped with a state-of-the-art drainage system to ensure quick drying after rain, making it an ideal setting for large outdoor weddings and other special events. As part of a respected university, the DGAC combines elegant facilities with comprehensive support to create memorable experiences for all clients.
The Event Planner position at the DGAC is a critical role responsible for the seamless planning and execution of events held within the center. The planner is tasked with collaborating closely with multiple internal departments including the event host team, campus catering services, the audio-visual department, maintenance, and security personnel, as well as external vendors. Building and maintaining strong relationships with a diverse range of event sponsors—ranging from campus departments and student organizations to external corporate partners and private clients such as brides—is a key component of the role. The Event Planner must ensure that each event meets its design and service expectations, managing every detail from the initial planning phase through on-site coordination. This includes mastering control systems for lighting, sound, and security, preparing daily setup packages, and overseeing vendor coordination and student worker teams to guarantee smooth execution.
This position demands an organized, flexible, and customer-oriented individual with excellent multitasking capabilities and strong interpersonal skills. The role involves working varied hours including days, evenings, weekends, and requires reliable transportation to support these schedules. The ideal candidate will bring a passion for service excellence, the ability to adapt quickly to changing circumstances, and proficient communication skills to effectively liaise with clients and internal teams. Employment with UT Dallas includes a competitive salary starting at $55,000 and an inclusive benefits package designed to support employees' health, wellness, education, and financial security. Overall, the Event Planner role at the DGAC offers a dynamic career opportunity within a prestigious university setting, allowing one to contribute to meaningful, high-profile events while engaging with a vibrant campus community.
