Job Requirements
- Equivalent to graduation from high school
- One year of experience in planning and/or execution of events
- Possession of a valid driver’s license on application date and maintenance thereafter
- Possession of a Health Card from Southern Nevada Health District within two weeks of appointment
- Techniques of Alcohol Management certification within two weeks of appointment if age 21 or older
- Availability to work varied schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug test and background check
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One year of experience in event planning or event execution
- Ability to work independently without close supervision
- Strong communication skills both oral and written
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet critical deadlines
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
- Basic knowledge of event planning principles and practices
- Customer service orientation
- Competency in modern office procedures and computer software
- Valid driver's license and ability to obtain necessary certifications
Job Duties
- Assists in developing, planning, coordinating, and implementing special city events
- Oversees hourly staff, interns and volunteer workers
- Ensures hourly employees adhere to established work methods, techniques and schedules
- Coordinates outside service needs with catering concessionaires and other service providers
- Develops and maintains positive working relationships with vendors, customers and other agencies
- Obtains required license agreements and permits for each event
- Assists in the implementation of division goals, objectives, policies and procedures
- Prepares reports on revenues and expenditures for events
- Monitors and maintains supplies, equipment, and inventory
- Coordinates with other city departments to organize logistics including security, permits, janitorial support, lighting and signage
- Distributes flyers and banners for special events
- Provides assistance with special events permitting
- Prepares a variety of reports
