Job Description
Schreiner University is a private, liberal arts university located in Kerrville, Texas, known for its commitment to academic excellence and community engagement. The university offers a range of undergraduate and graduate programs, fostering a supportive environment that promotes personal growth and professional development. Schreiner University prides itself on delivering exceptional service standards that enhance the campus experience for students, faculty, staff, and the surrounding community. As a vibrant educational institution, it integrates a variety of auxiliary services to support campus life, including facilities management, retail operations, and event coordination.
The Event Operations Manager plays a pivotal role within Schreiner University by organizing and overseeing all aspects of campus events, ensuring seamless execution from planning through completion. This full-time position is integral to enhancing student engagement and driving revenue through effective management of campus event spaces and collaborations with both internal departments and external entities. The manager works closely with a diverse team including university departments such as Aramark and Student Services, and external stakeholders like city and county agencies, ensuring compliance with regulations and facilitating event success.
This role requires strategic fiscal management to meet or exceed budgeted sales and profits within auxiliary services enterprises. The Event Operations Manager is responsible for managing various campus rental spaces including The Hill Property, The Weston House, Trailhead Beer Garden, and additional contracted venues like Tivy Stadium and the Hill Country Youth Event Center. Beyond space management, the role includes marketing efforts to attract new clients, overseeing event contracts and financial invoicing, and maintaining a strong online and social media presence.
Leadership is a key component, as the manager recruits, trains, and supervises event interns and student workers, fostering a collaborative and professional team environment. The position requires the ability to multitask effectively, meet deadlines, and coordinate logistics with food and beverage services. Additionally, the manager facilitates communication between university auxiliary services, external agencies such as the Fire Marshal and local police, and various campus departments to ensure smooth operations and adherence to safety standards.
This role contributes to university initiatives by participating on appointed committees, promoting cooperative efforts with campus operations for facility maintenance and improvements, and representing Schreiner University at local, regional, and national events. The Event Operations Manager is expected to uphold Schreiner University Service Standards, delivering quality customer service consistently and embodying the university’s commitment to excellence in event management.
Overall, this position offers a dynamic and rewarding opportunity to be at the heart of campus activities, supporting both the university’s mission and its financial goals through innovative event planning and exceptional operational management. Candidates should be prepared to engage with diverse groups, work flexible hours including nights and weekends, and bring a polished, professional approach to every aspect of their work.
