Job Description

The University of California Riverside (UCR) is a renowned public research university that forms part of the prestigious University of California system. Known for its commitment to providing excellent education and fostering innovative research, UCR serves a diverse body of students while supporting a vibrant academic and community culture. The university's College of Natural and Agricultural Sciences (CNAS) plays a pivotal role in advancing knowledge across various scientific disciplines, emphasizing both student education and impactful research that benefits regional and global communities.

Within this dynamic college environment, the role of the Events Manager is crucial to the success and visibility of CNAS initiatives. Reporting directly to the Assistant Dean of Communications and Strategic Initiatives, the Events Manager is responsible for orchestrating a broad spectrum of events that align with the college's mission to engage and support its varied stakeholders. This full-time position offers a competitive salary range of $54,200 to $83,450 per year and operates within regular hours from 8AM to 5PM, facilitating efficient workflow and collaboration.

The Events Manager collaborates with the CNAS Dean's Office Communications team and works extensively across multiple university departments and external vendors. Their main focus is building upon existing events and developing new, strategically targeted occasions that engage current and prospective students, alumni, donors, parents, and industry partners. The event portfolio managed includes in-person, virtual, and hybrid formats, encompassing recruitment drives, conferences, town halls, retreats, networking mixers, distinguished lectures, and open houses.

This role demands high organizational acumen and excellent interpersonal skills as the manager coordinates logistics with internal teams and external vendors such as caterers, photographers, party suppliers, and graphic designers to ensure smooth event execution. Acting as a liaison, the Events Manager represents CNAS in interactions with external partners, negotiating contracts, and ensuring compliance with campus security and safety policies. Furthermore, event-related marketing materials including PowerPoint presentations, flyers, and invitations often fall under their purview.

Candidates applying for this position should demonstrate the ability to handle high-pressure situations and tight deadlines while maintaining outstanding customer service. They must have a thorough understanding of event planning principles, be adept at multitasking through effective calendar management, and show good judgment in resolving challenges swiftly. Experience working with diverse populations within an academic setting is highly advantageous.

Overall, the Events Manager at CNAS plays an essential role in advancing the college’s objectives by amplifying engagement and enhancing the impact of its events. Their efforts not only promote CNAS's achievements but also strengthen vital connections within and beyond the university, thus contributing foundationally to its ongoing growth and success.
