Job Description

The City of Miamisburg, Ohio, is a vibrant and progressive suburban community in the south Dayton metropolitan region, home to just over 20,000 residents. Known for its perfect blend of small-town charm and modern amenities, Miamisburg features a historic downtown area and offers a diverse mix of commercial and residential options. The city is committed to delivering high-quality services to its citizens while actively seeking innovative ways to attract and engage visitors, making it an inviting place for families, businesses, and tourists alike.

The City of Miamisburg's Parks and Recreation Department plays a crucial role in enhancing community life through a variety of programs and services designed to promote well-being, inclusivity, and recreational enjoyment across all age groups. As part of this mission, the department seeks a dedicated and experienced Events Manager to join its team. This full-time role reports directly to the Events Division Manager and is an essential contributor to planning, organizing, and executing a wide range of events, concerts, and other recreational activities throughout the city.

The Events Manager will oversee program and event implementation and lead the Recreation Team members, ensuring that the department's vision of providing exceptional recreational opportunities is met with professionalism and creativity. This role is responsible for the strategic planning, design, and operational management of diverse events that serve preschool children, youth, teens, adults, and older adults. These programs range from large community events like concerts and festivals to specialized initiatives such as the traveling playground program.

Fundamental to this position is the ability to conduct in-depth research to identify new opportunities for community engagement, collect and analyze data for program improvement, and incorporate valuable public input to refine event offerings. The Events Manager also manages budgets related to event planning and execution, ensuring fiscal responsibility while maximizing impact and participation.

Candidates who join this team will play a pivotal role in fostering an inclusive community environment where all individuals and families, regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, or ability, can enjoy and participate in the city’s recreational programs and facilities. A particular emphasis is placed on recreational equity, and applicants with a passion for promoting equal access to recreational opportunities are especially encouraged to pursue this position.

The position offers competitive compensation, with an hourly wage ranging from $25.69 to $32.34 per hour, depending on qualifications. Alongside this salary, the City of Miamisburg provides a comprehensive benefits package, supporting the well-being and professional growth of its employees. The review process for applications begins promptly and will continue until the role is successfully filled.

Joining the City of Miamisburg as an Events Manager means becoming part of a progressive organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in a community that values tradition while embracing growth and innovation. This role is ideal for professionals who are highly organized, passionate about community recreation, and skilled in leading diverse teams to deliver memorable and impactful events.
