Job Description

The Denver Public Library (DPL) is not only a place to borrow books but also a vibrant and essential community hub serving the diverse city of Denver. With 28 locations and over 4 million annual visitors, the DPL stands as a cornerstone of civic life, culture, and education in the region. The library system is deeply woven into the fabric of Denver, providing resources, programs, and services that support lifelong learning, curiosity, and community connection. As a growing urban library system, DPL places a high value on accessibility, inclusion, and equity, striving to create welcoming spaces for all residents to explore knowledge and culture. The library emphasizes core values such as welcoming, curiosity, connection, equity, and stewardship that guide its operations and community engagement efforts. These principles foster an inclusive environment where diversity is celebrated, and everyone has the opportunity to thrive. The City and County of Denver offer competitive salaries and a generous benefits package for full-time employees, including multiple medical plans, dental and vision insurance, pension and retirement plans, paid time off, and various wellness and family leave options.

This position is based within the Central Library, which features a newly constructed 400-person venue managed by the Central Library Events team. This team supports a wide range of events and programs reflecting Denver's rich cultural diversity. The role of Events Coordinator at the Central Library is critical in ensuring seamless event management, including logistical, technical, and administrative support. The coordinator will maintain event files, ensure receipt and filing of essential documents, and help develop staffing schedules to meet event needs effectively. Working closely with the Central Events Manager, this role requires excellent communication skills, the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders, and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service. The coordinator is expected to bring innovation, flexibility, multitasking capabilities, and attention to detail in managing multiple events simultaneously. This role provides a unique opportunity to contribute to Denver's vibrant community by supporting cultural and educational programming in a highly visible public venue.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Theater, Fine Arts, Technical Production, or a related field, complemented by at least three years of experience in set design, stage, or event production. The Denver Public Library values diversity and inclusion and encourages applicants who share these commitments to apply, regardless of whether they meet every qualification checklist. The position is an unlimited full-time role located on-site at the Central Library in downtown Denver. The work schedule will include evenings and weekends based on operational needs, reflecting the community-centered nature of the library’s event programming. Employees should be prepared to commute using public transportation, alternative transportation, or pay for parking, as remote work opportunities are very limited. This job offers a dynamic work environment with a positive team culture and the chance to further one’s career while making a meaningful impact in the community.
