This role is for an Event Coordinator position located in College Station, TX. The position involves planning, coordinating, and managing various in-store events, primarily focusing on children’s birthday parties but also including other craft classes and community engagement activities. The Event Coordinator is responsible for creating enjoyable, stress-free, and engaging experiences for customers of all ages, from young children to seniors. This includes interacting warmly with customers, demonstrating craft projects, face painting, and organizing event materials such as gift bags and balloons according to corporate standards.
Additionally, the role incorporates a customer service element where the coordinator assists shoppers in finding products, facilitating a smooth and friendly checkout process, and educating customers about Michaels' rewards programs and credit card offerings. The position requires the ability to perform operational tasks like unloading shipments, stocking shelves, and maintaining store presentation to uphold the company's high retail standards.
The Event Coordinator also handles administrative duties such as responding to emails, making phone calls, and preparing documentation related to events. Flexibility is critical as the coordinator must adapt plans based on customer feedback and needs, create backup plans when necessary, and ensure customer satisfaction throughout the events. Maintaining cleanliness and safety within the store and event areas is an ongoing responsibility, including setup and cleanup activities.
Ideal candidates are energetic, enthusiastic individuals with excellent interpersonal skills and experience working with children at events. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, along with organizational and problem-solving abilities, are essential. Retail or customer service experience is also required. This physically active role demands stamina to stand for extended periods, move throughout the store, lift heavy boxes, and access high shelves safely.
