We are hiring for an Event Coordinator role at our College Station, TX store. This position is focused on planning, coordinating, and facilitating craft-related events, including children’s birthday parties, within the Michaels store. The goal is to provide a stress-free, fun, and engaging event experience for guests of all ages, ranging from young children to seniors, by fostering a creative and welcoming atmosphere. The Event Coordinator is also a key player in enhancing the customer shopping experience by assisting patrons in locating products, educating them about promotions such as the Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards, and ensuring speedy and friendly checkout service.

As an integral part of store operations, the Event Coordinator supports various store activities, including unloading trucks, stocking merchandise, maintaining display standards, and completing daily cleaning tasks to uphold the store’s brand promises and safety standards. The role requires strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills, particularly the ability to interact positively with customers and colleagues, manage multiple event details simultaneously, and adapt plans based on client feedback. Experience working with children and managing children's events is essential. The position also demands physical stamina, including the ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy items, and engage in repetitive movements. Job Requirements

  • Ability to remain standing for long periods
  • Ability to move throughout the store
  • Regular bending, lifting, carrying, reaching, and stretching
  • Ability to lift heavy boxes and access high shelves using ladders or similar equipment
  • Experience handling job stress and interacting effectively with guests and coworkers
  • Ability to perform physical activities including sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and restroom maintenance
  • Must satisfy federal, state, and local legal requirements for the job
  • Availability to work nights, weekends, and early mornings
  • Must be able to comply with company safety policies and procedures

Job Duties

  • Plan and coordinate multiple events at once including children's birthday parties and other craft classes or events
  • Engage with clients of all ages by creating an environment of fun and creativity
  • Demonstrate and instruct party participants in the completion of craft projects and perform activities such as face painting
  • Facilitate and implement party add-ons such as goody bags and balloons to company standards
  • Communicate events with clients and store team members
  • Complete administrative tasks such as answering emails, making phone calls, and completing paperwork
  • Adjust plans and events based on client's feedback and needs
  • Create backup or emergency plans for events
  • Ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events
  • Uphold cleanliness and safety standards before and after events
  • Help customers shop and locate products
  • Provide fast and friendly checkout experience
  • Engage customers on benefits of Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards and complete enrollments
  • Educate customers on Voice of Customer survey
  • Assist with Omni channel processes including Buy Online Pickup in Store and Ship From Store
  • Participate in truck unload, stocking and planogram processes
  • Complete merchandise recovery and maintenance
  • Perform Store in Stock Optimization and AD set duties
  • Support shrink and safety programs
  • Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures and company policies
  • Interact respectfully with others and project a positive image
  • Cross train in Custom Framing selling and production
  • Participate in daily store cleanliness activities
