Job Description
Michaels is a leading retail destination specializing in arts, crafts, framing, floral, and other creative products. Founded in 1973 and headquartered in Irving, Texas, Michaels operates over 1,300 stores across 49 states and Canada, along with an extensive online presence at Michaels.com and Michaels.ca. As North America’s top craft specialty retailer, Michaels offers customers a wide array of creative tools and materials aimed at fueling creativity and celebration in every community. The company also owns Artistree, a manufacturer known for custom and specialty framing products, further offering customers unique, personalized crafting options.
At Michaels, the primary focus is on creating a welcoming environment where creativity can flourish, making it the perfect place for those passionate about artistic expression and customer engagement. The company places high importance on the satisfaction and well-being of both customers and employees, offering a diverse and inclusive workplace culture with robust benefits packages that include health insurance, paid time off, tuition assistance, and generous employee discounts.
This particular role, based in the Warner Robins, GA location, is centered around event coordination within the store, with a special emphasis on managing and facilitating children’s birthday parties and other craft-related events. The Event Coordinator position is ideal for energetic individuals who enjoy working with guests of all ages and are capable of creating a fun, engaging, and stress-free environment. Key responsibilities include planning and coordinating multiple events simultaneously, demonstrating craft projects, instructing party participants, and providing exceptional customer service throughout the event experience.
The role demands excellent organizational skills as well as the creativity to adapt event plans based on client feedback and unique needs. The Event Coordinator also has to manage various party add-ons, maintain company cleanliness and safety standards, and interact with customers to help them shop and enjoy a seamless checkout experience. Additionally, the position requires support in operational tasks such as merchandise stocking, truck unloading, inventory management, and participating in store-wide safety and shrink programs. Employees will also be cross-trained in custom framing sales and production to support overall retail operations.
Michaels values candidates who have experience working with children, possess excellent communication skills, and demonstrate enthusiasm and professionalism in daily interactions with customers and colleagues alike. The physical demands of the job include standing for extended periods, lifting heavy boxes, reaching to access inventory on high shelves, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment. This position may require working nights, weekends, and early mornings to accommodate store and event schedules.
Working at Michaels offers a dynamic and fun atmosphere where creativity and customer experience take center stage. This Event Coordinator role is an exciting opportunity for individuals who are passionate about crafting, event planning, and customer engagement, looking to contribute significantly to a leading retail brand dedicated to fueling joy through creativity and celebration.
