Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- minimum age of 19 years old
- valid state driver's license
- willingness to obtain TIPS certification within first three months of employment
- ability to work variable schedules including weekends, holidays, and evenings
- capacity to walk and stand for extended periods
- physical ability to lift and move up to 75 pounds using safe methods
- ability to follow directions and work as part of a team
- strong customer service skills
- basic math skills and experience operating computerized cash registers
- ability to multitask and handle fast-paced environments
- willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- background check and drug test may be required depending on position
- good driving history
Job Qualifications
- Valid state driver's license
- high school diploma or equivalent
- experience in events is helpful but not required
- minimum age of 19 years old
- willing to obtain TIPS certification within first three months of employment
Job Duties
- Follow Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium policies and standards
- serve as a positive representative of Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium with a professional and friendly attitude to guests
- handle customer or guest inquiries and provide excellent customer service
- obtain all necessary event information prior to events including the event information sheet
- obtain and maintain all necessary equipment and supplies for events
- set up and tear down tables, chairs, signage, tents, and other event needs
- assist external vendors with location and logistical needs while escorting them
- escort guests and vendors using golf carts or other Zoo vehicles
- maintain cleanliness of the event atmosphere and facilities
- properly follow food handling and beverage procedures according to Zoo policies and state laws
- ensure proper set-up, tear down, and storage of equipment and supplies
- operate cash register, collect payment, and make change
- manage drink ticket accountability
- help manage event logistics including venue setup and staffing stations
- assist bartending staff in setting up bar arrangements and tending inventories
- monitor guest behavior including underage and over-indulgent drinking
- be present at events to ensure smooth operations and troubleshoot as necessary
- follow directions and work well as a team
- fill in where necessary to fulfill any event duties, including setup and teardown
- communicate comments, ideas, and concerns with management
