Events Assistant

The Zoo's Events Assistant position is a valuable role within the team responsible for supporting the successful production and execution of a variety of public, private, and internal events. This part-time, regular position involves working up to 24 hours per week, with schedules that vary based on operational needs including nights, weekends, and holidays. With a pay rate of $15.63 per hour, this role is ideal for individuals who thrive in dynamic settings, enjoy working with diverse guest groups, and have a passion for event coordination within a unique zoo environment.

As an Events Assistant, you will be an integral part of a vibrant team focused on creating memorable event experiences that positively represent Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium. Your role is multifaceted, covering all aspects of event logistics including setup, guest and vendor assistance, equipment management, and guest services. This position requires excellent communication skills and a strong attention to detail to ensure that every event runs smoothly and professionally from start to finish.

You will have the opportunity to work closely with external vendors, escort guests, handle cash transactions, and assist bartending staff in maintaining bar operations during events. The role also demands the ability to troubleshoot and adapt quickly to changing conditions to support a variety of events ranging from small gatherings to large functions hosting thousands of attendees. Working in this position involves frequent walking, standing, and physical activity, including lifting and moving equipment, setting up venues, and maintaining cleanliness throughout event spaces.
