Job Description
St. Francis Yacht Club, founded in 1927, is a prestigious private yacht club located in San Francisco, California, renowned for its rich maritime heritage and active engagement in yacht racing and social activities. Serving as an iconic landmark in the Bay Area boating community, the Club sits adjacent to the Marina District, offering spectacular views of the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco Bay. Over its nearly century-long history, it has become a center of yachting excellence and tradition, hosting one of the world’s most active regatta schedules. The Club boasts deep-water guest docks, excellent dining amenities, professional staff, inviting bars, and outstanding private facilities designed to host a variety of social and regatta-related events. In addition to its city clubhouse, the Club owns Tinsley Island located in the Delta, offering members a private getaway with accommodations, dockage, recreational facilities, and a friendly, inclusive environment for year-round enjoyment.
The Catering and Events Coordinator role at St. Francis Yacht Club is a full-time, exempt position paying $80,000 to $90,000 annually, including bonuses. Reporting to the Director of Catering and Events, this position plays an essential role in planning, organizing, and executing the Club’s wide array of functions and catering services. The Coordinator is directly responsible for ensuring every event is handled with the highest standards of professionalism, discretion, and respect for the Club’s traditions and culture. This involves close collaboration with Club members to understand and fulfill their unique expectations, working with culinary and food and beverage teams to create exceptional dining experiences, and coordinating logistics with other departments including the Race Department for regatta-related functions.
Key to success in this role is managing member and guest experiences with a personalized and detail-oriented approach, excelling in event planning and logistical execution, and maintaining clear and professional communication across various internal teams and external vendors. Responsibilities include overseeing event reservations, seating arrangements, billing, menu development, and pricing strategies that balance member value and financial goals. The Coordinator ensures all events meet Club policy compliance and health and safety standards while supporting a welcoming, inclusive, and respectful environment. Given the dynamic nature of yacht club events, the role requires excellent multitasking abilities, adaptability, and an ability to manage complex timelines and event details efficiently.
St. Francis Yacht Club emphasizes diversity, equity, and inclusion, fostering a culture of camaraderie and mutual respect among its members and staff. The Club seeks a Catering and Events Coordinator who shares these values and is committed to enhancing member satisfaction through attentive service and operational excellence. This position offers an opportunity to work within a storied institution celebrated internationally for its yachting heritage and vibrant community, contributing to memorable experiences that uphold the Club’s esteemed reputation.
