Job Description

St. Francis Yacht Club, founded in 1927, is a prestigious and historic private yacht club located adjacent to the Marina District in San Francisco. With over 90 years of rich yachting traditions, the club serves as a premier boating and social venue that honors camaraderie, sportsmanship, tradition, and the maritime heritage unique to San Francisco. The club boasts an active annual regatta schedule and offers members access to some of the most exciting and challenging sailing conditions in the world, thanks to its location on the San Francisco Bay. The breathtaking clubhouse features deep-water guest docks, outstanding dining amenities, and spectacular views of the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco Bay, making it an ideal setting for members and their guests to enjoy boating and social events.

Beyond the city-based clubhouse, the club also offers access to Tinsley Island, a private 40-acre retreat situated 60 miles up the Delta. This island paradise is accessible only by club launch or private boat and provides members with an exceptional year-round getaway. Facilities on Tinsley Island include dockage, houseboats, on-island lodging, kitchen facilities, a swimming pool, and a small boat fleet available for member use, all within a rustic and relaxing environment.

The role of Catering and Events Coordinator at St. Francis Yacht Club is a full-time, exempt position reporting to the Director of Catering and Events, with a competitive salary ranging from $80,000 to $90,000 plus a bonus. This position plays a critical role in planning, organizing, and executing club functions and catering services, ensuring these events reflect the Club’s esteemed traditions, standards, and culture. The coordinator is responsible for working closely with members to understand and deliver on their expectations with the utmost professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail.

Key responsibilities include collaborating with culinary and food and beverage teams, working with approved vendors, and supporting the delivery of gracious hospitality while maintaining fiscal responsibility and adhering to Club policies and health and safety regulations. The coordinator assists in managing event reservations, seating arrangements, billing, and billing processes, ensuring the accuracy and timely submission of all event details to the Accounting Department. Additionally, the position involves supporting regatta-related social functions in partnership with the Race Department and working closely with Club Management to develop appropriate event pricing that balances member value, participation goals, and financial performance.

The Catering and Events Coordinator is an essential liaison between various departments including culinary, food and beverage, catering teams, the front desk, and club committees. They play a vital role in ensuring all event spaces are prepared correctly—covering room setups, timing, service details, and logistical coordination to guarantee seamless, memorable Club functions. Strong communication skills, multitasking prowess, and the ability to handle operational challenges in real time are crucial for success in this role.

Core competencies for the position include member and guest experience management, event planning and organizational execution, communication and relationship building, and flawless event execution and operations. St. Francis Yacht Club prides itself on a culture that values diversity, equity, and inclusion, fostering a welcoming environment for all who share a passion for boating and the Club regardless of race, ethnicity, creed, disability, gender, or other personal attributes.

This position offers a rewarding opportunity to contribute to the vibrant social and boating life of one of the world’s foremost yacht clubs while enjoying a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, life insurance, employee assistance programs, vacation, sick leave, and more. The Club is dedicated to treating all employees with respect and courtesy and invites candidates who share these values and a dedication to exceptional service to apply.
