Job Description
St. Francis Yacht Club, founded in 1927, is one of the premier yachting organizations located in the heart of San Francisco. With a rich history spanning over 90 years, the club is widely respected for its significant contributions to the boating community both regionally and internationally. It serves as an inspirational center for boating activities and is renowned for honoring camaraderie, sportsmanship, tradition, and the maritime heritage of San Francisco. The club is situated adjacent to the Marina District, with a picturesque clubhouse that offers deep-water guest docks, excellent dining experiences, vibrant social venues, and stunning views of the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco Bay. It regularly hosts some of the most active regatta schedules in the world, leveraging the bay's challenging and exhilarating wind, current, and weather conditions.
A unique feature of the club is Tinsley Island, a 40-acre private retreat located 60 miles up the Delta, accessible only by club-owned launch or private boat. The island, equipped with dockage, houseboats, lodging, kitchen facilities, a swimming pool, and a small boat fleet, offers members and guests a serene and rustic getaway throughout the year.
The Catering and Events Coordinator role at St. Francis Yacht Club is an exciting full-time, exempt position offering a competitive salary range of $80,000 to $90,000, plus bonuses. Reporting directly to the Director of Catering and Events, this position holds a pivotal responsibility in orchestrating club functions and catering services that align with the club's high traditions and standards. This role is integral to maintaining the luxurious and welcoming atmosphere expected by the club's distinguished membership. The coordinator works closely with members to understand and exceed their expectations, delivering impeccable service, discretion, and attention to detail.
Collaborating cross-functionally with culinary teams, food and beverage staff, and approved vendors, the Catering and Events Coordinator ensures the flawless execution of a diverse range of events, from elegant dinners to dynamic regattas. A key part of this position involves managing event reservations, seating, and billing processes accurately and efficiently. The coordinator plays a strategic role in menu development and pricing strategies in partnership with the culinary and management teams, focusing on enhancing member value while meeting financial goals.
The role also requires coordination with the Race Department for regatta-related social functions to ensure seamless event integration with racing activities and uphold club traditions. Communication across departments is crucial in this role to maintain organized event logistics and optimal member experiences.
Essential core competencies for this position include superior member and guest experience management, adept event planning and organizational execution, excellent communication and relationship-building skills, and expert event execution and operations oversight. This is a role for a professional who can multitask and manage multiple events simultaneously while maintaining meticulous attention to detail and a strong member-service ethos. Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays is expected to support the club's event schedule.
St. Francis Yacht Club prides itself on fostering an inclusive and respectful environment where diversity, equity, and inclusion are valued. The club is committed to creating a welcoming space for all, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, age, or background, thereby promoting a culture of respect and sportsmanship. This role offers the opportunity to be part of a prestigious institution with a legacy of excellence and a vibrant community dedicated to the sport of boating and high-quality hospitality.
