As a prominent hub of yachting activity, the Club holds a rich history that spans over 90 years, embodying a deep connection to maritime heritage, tradition, and the spirit of camaraderie. Situated adjacent to the vibrant Marina District, the Club offers stunning views of the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco Bay, providing members with an exceptional boating and social environment. Equipped with deep-water guest docks, elegant dining facilities, attractive bars, and versatile private party venues, the Club is renowned for orchestrating memorable regattas and social events. Beyond the city clubhouse, St. Francis Yacht Club features Tinsley Island, a 40-acre private getaway in the Delta accessible by boat, complete with houseboats, lodging, recreational amenities, and a serene natural setting, making it a year-round retreat for members.
This role as Catering and Events Coordinator is a full-time, exempt position reporting directly to the Director of Catering and Events, offering a competitive salary range from $80,000 to $90,000 with additional bonus opportunities. The Catering and Events Coordinator plays a key role in planning, organizing, and executing club functions and catering services that uphold the Club’s high standards and revered traditions. The individual in this position acts as a vital liaison, working closely with members to ensure that all their expectations are carefully understood and met with professionalism, discretion, and precision. Working collaboratively with culinary teams, food and beverage departments, and approved vendors, the Coordinator ensures flawless event delivery while maintaining fiscal responsibility in alignment with Club policies and health and safety regulations. With the Club’s active and prestigious regatta schedule, the Coordinator also partners with the Race Department to seamlessly integrate social functions that complement sailing activities. The ideal candidate must possess strong organizational skills to manage multiple events simultaneously, excellent communication capabilities, and a commitment to delivering highly personalized and gracious hospitality reflective of the Club’s culture. This role demands adaptability to working evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed to support diverse and dynamic event programming. Job Duties
- assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of club events and regattas, partnering with staff and serving as a key liaison to club committees to ensure exceptional and memorable member experiences
- manage event reservations, seating arrangements, and billing processes, ensuring all event details and financial information are accurate, organized, and submitted to the accounting department in a timely manner
- collaborate with the executive chef and culinary team to develop menus that align with member preferences and elevate the club’s dining experience
- partner with club management to develop thoughtful event pricing that balances member value, participation goals, and financial performance
- work closely with the race department to coordinate regatta-related social functions, ensuring a cohesive and elevated experience that complements racing activities and club traditions
- collaborate with the food & beverage director, catering team, and front desk to ensure accurate reservations, clear communication, and seamless execution of all event logistics
- ensure all upcoming events are communicated promptly to the catering department for inclusion in the weekly catering packet
- actively participate in catering meetings to review event details, anticipate needs, and support operational success
- confirm that all event spaces are properly prepared, including room setups, timing, and service details, to ensure smooth, welcoming, and well-executed club functions
