Job Description

St. Francis Yacht Club is a prestigious and historic private club located in San Francisco, renowned for its rich heritage in boating and yachting traditions. Founded in 1927, the club has served as an inspirational center for boating activities on both regional and international levels. With over 90 years of history, the St. Francis Yacht Club has built a reputation for excellence, camaraderie, and sportsmanship, and it plays a fundamental role in celebrating the maritime heritage of San Francisco. The club’s beautiful and strategically located clubhouse sits adjacent to the Marina District, offering members and their guests spectacular views of the Golden Gate Bridge and the San Francisco Bay. This location provides not only visual splendor but also access to deep-water docks and a premier yachting environment. The club hosts one of the most active regatta schedules worldwide, leveraging the challenging yet thrilling wind, current, and weather conditions of the Bay to provide competitive and exciting sailing experiences.

Beyond the city-based clubhouse, St. Francis Yacht Club also owns Tinsley Island, a private retreat located 60 miles up the Delta. This 40-acre island oasis provides members with an exclusive getaway featuring dockage, houseboats, lodging, kitchen facilities, a swimming pool, and a small boat fleet, all surrounded by a naturally serene and relaxing setting. Tinsley Island exemplifies the club’s dedication to offering unparalleled recreational opportunities for its members year-round.

The club takes pride in offering world-class amenities, including fine dining rooms, inviting bars, and private event facilities, all supported by a professional and dedicated staff that ensures high standards of service and hospitality. The club’s commitment to maintaining its traditions while embracing modern standards positions it as a cherished institution within the boating community. St. Francis Yacht Club fosters a culture of inclusion, diversity, and respect, upholding values of sportsmanship and camaraderie among its members and guests.

The Catering and Events Coordinator role is an integral part of the club’s Catering and Events Department, reporting directly to the Director of Catering and Events. This full-time, exempt position offers a competitive salary range of $80,000 to $90,000, with bonus potential. The coordinator plays a critical role in designing, organizing, and executing club functions and catering services that reflect the club’s esteemed traditions and unique culture. The position requires working closely with members to ensure their event expectations are met with exceptional professionalism, discretion, and meticulous attention to detail.

The role involves collaboration with the culinary team, food and beverage department, support teams, and approved external vendors to ensure seamless event execution. It also demands fiscal responsibility and adherence to club policies, service standards, and all applicable health and safety regulations. The Catering and Events Coordinator contributes significantly to delivering an outstanding member and guest experience, upholding the club’s brand and legacy through expertly managed events ranging from intimate functions to large regattas. This position requires strong organizational skills, effective communication across multiple departments, and the ability to handle multiple events concurrently without compromising quality or member satisfaction. Working evenings, weekends, and holidays is expected as needed to accommodate the club’s active event schedule. St. Francis Yacht Club offers a workplace culture that values member service, collaboration, and a passion for boating and hospitality, making this opportunity ideal for professionals dedicated to event planning and exceptional service in a prestigious private club setting.
