Job Description

Glenaire is a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) dedicated to enriching the lives and touching the hearts of those they serve. The Events and Catering Assistant plays a crucial role in helping Glenaire maintain its mission of service excellence by assisting in the planning and execution of events, meetings, banquets, and catering functions. This full-time role requires a dedicated individual available for 40 hours per week, including weekends, highlighting the dynamic and community-focused nature of the work. The assistant is responsible for supporting the smooth operation of events from start to finish, ensuring memorable experiences for residents and guests.

This position entails a diverse range of duties such as event coordination, set up and breakdown, managing catering inventory, and ensuring high standards of food presentation and cleanliness. By communicating effectively with residents, families, and internal teams, the assistant helps manage the details and timelines critical to successful events. Emphasis is placed on maintaining health, safety, and sanitation guidelines to guarantee a safe environment for all attendees. The assistant also supports administrative tasks like scheduling and confirmations, reinforcing the organized and efficient running of the events department.

Ideal candidates will bring experience or a strong interest in hospitality, catering, or event management, paired with excellent organizational and multitasking skills. Strong communication and interpersonal abilities are essential to build positive relationships and deliver exceptional customer service. Physical endurance to stand for extended periods and the ability to lift moderate weights is required. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous hospitality, catering, restaurant, or event experience preferred
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift 25-50 lbs as needed
  • Strong communication skills
  • Positive and professional attitude

Job Duties

  • Assist with planning and coordinating events, meetings, banquets, and catering functions
  • Assisting residents and team members create memorable events
  • Support event setup and breakdown, including tables, decor, signage, and catering stations
  • Communicate with residents, family members, and internal teams regarding event details and timelines
  • Help manage catering orders, inventory, and supplies
  • Ensure food presentation and service areas meet quality and cleanliness standards
  • Provide excellent customer service before, during, and after events
  • Assist with scheduling, confirmations, and administrative event tasks
  • Monitor event flow and address resident needs promptly
  • Follow health, safety, and sanitation guidelines
  • Support the Events or Catering Coordinator with additional duties as needed
