Job Description
Cohera is a reputable company specializing in event staffing and hospitality services, known for its commitment to delivering exceptional client experiences in various event settings. As a dynamic organization, Cohera operates within the hospitality industry, focusing on providing well-trained, professional event staff to support a wide range of client events, including corporate functions, conferences, and social gatherings. The company values professionalism, integrity, and a customer-oriented approach, aiming to create outstanding event experiences by ensuring their staff is knowledgeable, dependable, and courteous in all interactions.
The role of Event Staff at Cohera is pivotal to maintaining the high standards the company is known for. Employees in this position are expected to be friendly, professional, attentive, and treat others with dignity and respect at all times. This role requires a thorough understanding of the Event Staff Agreement, covering reimbursables, code of conduct, scheduling, and communications. Event staff must attend mandatory annual training sessions, both in person and online, to stay updated on company protocols and event management procedures. A significant part of this position involves being familiar with assigned shifts and following the directions of the Event Manager to ensure smooth event operations. Reliable transportation is necessary to travel throughout the city, as employees are expected to cover the first 25 miles themselves, with the balance reimbursable.
Punctuality and preparation are crucial for success in this role. Event staff are required to arrive in uniform, either the provided company uniform or an all-black short-sleeved shirt and black pants if a uniform has not been issued yet. They must also bring essential items such as a clipboard, counter/clicker, fully charged smartphone with charger, water, snacks, and meals to support their tasks throughout the shift. Record-keeping duties include tracking guest counts, driver details, and other pertinent event information, with continuous communication to the Event Manager regarding any updates or challenges.
The scope of responsibilities extends beyond basic event support to include assisting and supporting fellow staff and maintaining a good working knowledge of local destinations, fun facts, and historical information relevant to the event location. Staff use the Dayforce mobile app to clock in and out, confirm hours, and submit expenses according to the payroll calendar, emphasizing the importance of accuracy and timely submissions.
Quality of work is paramount at Cohera, with every employee expected to operate as a productive team member who takes initiative, acts creatively, and adapts flexibly to changes, always with honesty and integrity. Working in a fast-paced environment, employees should be ready to assist others and work overtime as needed to deliver high-quality service. The company values individuals who are self-starters, capable of making independent decisions, and who seek innovative solutions to improve the service offering. Staff are expected to respond swiftly to changing circumstances, provide constructive feedback, and consistently meet or exceed client expectations.
This position involves moderate discretion, requiring accuracy and adherence to company policies to prevent errors that could negatively impact performance. Employees work independently but under supervision to ensure standards are maintained. To qualify for this role, candidates should have at least one year of experience in the hospitality industry, a strong "can do" attitude, excellent communication skills, and proficiency with technology including smartphones, tablets, and computers, particularly for using the Dayforce app effectively.
Physical requirements include the ability to move freely between buildings and levels, occasional lifting of up to 30 pounds, and exposure to low-level environmental factors typical of office and event environments. While work assignments may be sporadic and not regularly scheduled, they offer opportunities to be part of a reputable company dedicated to providing excellent event support and client satisfaction.
