The company operates primarily through seasonal events and programs designed to serve youth athletes and teams passionate about sports. Known for its innovative approach and well-organized sporting events, Open Gym Premier reaches a vast audience, supporting over 75,000 players and 10,000 teams annually across the western United States. The organization maintains a mission-driven focus, aspiring to revolutionize the youth sports ecosystem by delivering consistent, professional, and engaging sports experiences for young athletes and their communities. Open Gym Premier operates with sites in Chicago, Illinois, and Auburn, Washington, emphasizing weekend and seasonal staff availability to support their busy tournament schedules.
The Event Staff Lead role at Open Gym Premier is a vital position that supports the smooth execution of youth basketball tournaments held primarily on weekends. This seasonal role offers morning and afternoon shifts, ideally suited for individuals who thrive in dynamic, fast-paced environments and possess strong organizational skills. As an Event Staff Lead, you will oversee on-site operations by managing a team of stat keepers and scorekeepers, ensuring punctuality, attendance tracking, and proper staffing management through OGP’s timekeeping and digital platforms. Your key responsibilities include coordinating tournament logistics such as court assignments, equipment setup, signage, and facilitating efficient game flow through accurate stat entry and real-time problem solving. You will directly manage the performance and professionalism of the event staff, serving as the primary on-court contact for issues and questions.
You will play a crucial role in scheduling, monitoring shift compliance, and reducing overtime by managing breaks and shifts strategically. This position requires a proactive leader capable of modeling professional conduct, addressing any behavioral concerns, and escalating urgent matters to tournament managers when necessary. Additionally, you will gather and communicate feedback from staff and participants to contribute towards the continuous improvement of tournament operations.
This role is perfect for someone who brings prior experience in stat keeping and staff leadership within sports or events settings, especially those familiar with youth basketball or tournament play. Strong communication, problem-solving abilities, punctuality, and comfort with using digital tools for timekeeping and staffing are essential qualities for success. Working with Open Gym Premier means embracing an equal opportunity workplace committed to diversity and inclusion, as well as enjoying hands-on sports management experience and opportunities for growth within the organization. This position requires full weekend availability during the seasonal tournaments to ensure effective team leadership and event execution.
