Job Description

Shelby Farms Park Conservancy (SFPC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to managing and caring for Shelby Farms Park and Shelby Farms Greenline, located in Memphis, Tennessee. SFPC shoulders the responsibilities of daily park management, fundraising to meet operational budget needs, crafting the vision for the park's future, and stewardship of the park's rich natural resources. The team at SFPC is deeply committed to their vision of creating a renowned 21st-century urban park that not only defines and shapes the city of Memphis but also provides inclusive, equitable, and free access to every resident in the Memphis metropolitan area. This commitment ensures that Shelby Farms Park remains an accessible and treasured space for community members and visitors alike.

Shelby Farms Park is one of the largest urban parks in the United States, spanning an impressive 4,500 acres. The park features a variety of amenities designed to cater to diverse interests, including miles of scenic trails, picturesque lakes and ponds, a tranquil buffalo herd, the popular Woodland Discovery Playground, the FedEx Event Center, an exciting treetop adventure course, a sprayground for children, and an outdoor stage for performances and events. All these features collectively make the park a valued community asset fostering outdoor recreation, cultural events, and family-friendly experiences.

The Event Sales & Marketing Manager role at SFPC is a pivotal position aimed at driving earned revenue through effective sales and marketing of the park's ticketed events and premium experiences. This role involves managing sales strategies and execution for events such as Starry Nights, Afterglow, Canoes & Cocktails, Buffalo Run, and other ticketed or premium offerings at the park. The manager is responsible for overseeing various revenue streams including individual and group ticket sales, exclusive VIP tiers, bundled packages, and paid advertising or brand partnership placements structured as commercial marketing transactions.

Beyond sales, the Event Sales & Marketing Manager leads the marketing efforts associated with venue rentals and ticketed events, managing web content, SEO, social media outreach, influencer partnerships, and coordination of concessions and retail during events. The position includes direct supervision of a Marketing Coordinator and a Retail and Concessions Coordinator, ensuring that all marketing and sales activities are strategically aligned and executed to meet customer expectations and revenue targets.

The manager works closely with the Sales & Events Operations Manager to deliver flawless event execution, from planning through post-event evaluation, promoting a high-quality customer experience and achieving revenue goals. The role also involves strategizing pricing, segmentation, and experience design to enhance event appeal and profitability. The successful candidate will have the ability to analyze market trends, customer data, and post-event feedback to refine and evolve the park's event offerings continuously.

This position operates in a dynamic environment requiring office-based work combined with regular on-site presence during events. The role demands flexibility, including some evening, weekend, and holiday work during active event seasons, to adequately support ticket sales cycles and live event execution. SFPC offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, a 401(k) plan with organizational match, paid time off, personal days, and holidays.

Joining Shelby Farms Park Conservancy means becoming part of a mission-driven organization focused on community enrichment, environmental stewardship, and creating memorable public experiences. This position provides an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional in event sales and marketing to contribute meaningfully to Memphis's cultural and recreational landscape while growing their career in a vibrant and impactful setting.
