Job Requirements

  • Three years of experience in a sales or business development position
  • associate’s degree preferable or experience related to outside sales and development
  • must obtain a valid Oklahoma motor vehicle operator’s license within thirty days of hire
  • pass driver’s history check
  • successful completion of a pre-employment background check

Job Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree preferable or experience related to outside sales and development
  • three years of experience in sales or business development
  • demonstrated ability to build and maintain client relationships
  • strong communication skills
  • proficiency with CRM software
  • ability to collaborate with diverse internal and external teams
  • knowledge of event sales processes and marketing techniques

Job Duties

  • Build and maintain a prospective client pipeline aligned with the Zoo’s strategic goals
  • assist director with development of documented sales strategy
  • prospect and promote OKC Zoo offerings (group admission and private events) to increase revenue and attendance
  • build connections in the community (e.g., CVB, local chambers) to create new business opportunities
  • attend networking events to build relationships with current and potential clients
  • generate new business through cold calling, off-site appointments, networking, and strategic marketing
  • develop new relationships and strengthen relationships with previous clients to encourage repeat business and growth
  • meet pre-determined sales goals and accurately document sales calls, appointments, and transactions using CRM software
  • collaborate with marketing team on collateral needs and targeted campaigns
  • collaborate with event execution team on handoff, industry trends, opportunities to enhance offerings, client requests, etc.
  • work closely with the Zoo’s food and beverage partner and non-profit partner to present cohesive Zoo offerings that best suit client needs
  • prepare proposals and invoices, and facilitate venue tours
  • review weekly, monthly, and quarterly sales objectives and results, and prepare action plans where improvement is needed
  • stay current on industry trends by reading relevant publications and attending seminars and workshops
