Job Description

Shelby Farms Park Conservancy (SFPC) is a prominent nonprofit organization dedicated to managing and preserving Shelby Farms Park and Shelby Farms Greenline, two of Memphis, Tennessee's most cherished natural and recreational assets. SFPC is charged with the daily operations, fundraising efforts to sustain the park's operational budget, strategic planning for future park growth, and stewardship of the park's diverse natural resources. The organization embraces a team-oriented approach, committed to its vision of shaping a celebrated 21st-century urban park that serves as a defining feature for the city while ensuring inclusive, equitable, and free access for all residents in the Memphis area. At its core, SFPC seeks to foster environmental sustainability, community engagement, and recreational enrichment for people of all backgrounds.

Shelby Farms Park itself spans an impressive 4,500 acres, ranking among the largest urban parks in the United States. It boasts an extensive network of trails, numerous lakes and ponds, a thriving buffalo herd, the innovative Woodland Discovery Playground designed for children, the FedEx Event Center for large gatherings, a thrilling treetop adventure course, a splash-friendly sprayground, and a vibrant outdoor stage for a variety of performances and special events. The park stands as a valued community resource, presenting accessible and no-cost opportunities for leisure, education, and entertainment.

The Event Sales & Marketing Manager role at SFPC serves as a pivotal leadership position tasked with maximizing earned revenue from SFPC's portfolio of ticketed events and premium park offerings. This full-time, dynamic position is responsible for the comprehensive execution of ticket sales strategies encompassing pricing, packaging, and demand generation while leveraging diverse customer-facing marketing channels. The revenue streams under this role include sales of individual and group tickets, VIP experiences, bundled packages, and monetization opportunities via paid digital advertising or brand partnerships structured as commercial transactions.

Key events such as Starry Nights, Afterglow, Canoes & Cocktails, Buffalo Run, and other premium experiences fall under this purview. The manager will closely monitor ticket conversion rates, sales pacing, and average transaction values, making data-driven adjustments to optimize financial outcomes. Moreover, this role owns the digital marketing assets and web content that support ticket sales and venue rentals and orchestrates social media, influencer engagement, and onsite concessions and retail integrations to enhance the customer experience and drive revenue.

The Event Sales & Marketing Manager also leads and mentors a team comprising a Marketing Coordinator and a Retail and Concessions Coordinator, coordinating activities across marketing execution, ticket sales, and event-day offerings to align fully with revenue objectives and patron expectations. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong communication, collaboration, and project management skills and a solid background in event sales, consumer revenue generation, and experiential marketing. The position requires periodic evening and weekend hours aligned with event schedules, with flexibility to support the cyclical nature of ticket sales and live event operations.

This career opportunity at Shelby Farms Park Conservancy offers a unique chance to blend passion for community-centered outdoor recreation with professional expertise in event sales and marketing. By driving successful ticket sales campaigns and crafting compelling premium experiences, the Event Sales & Marketing Manager directly contributes to the sustainability and vibrancy of one of Memphis’s most treasured public spaces.
