Job Description

AMERIND is a federally chartered tribally owned corporation established under Section 17 of the Indian Reorganization Act. Formed by its Members, the governmental units of federally recognized Tribal Nations, AMERIND administers federally funded housing programs aimed at assisting American Indian and Alaska Native families. This corporation operates with the authority to collaborate with Tribal Governments, Enterprises, and Citizens. It provides comprehensive services including Property and Liability insurance, Workers Compensation, Homeowners and Renters coverage, Employee Benefits, Fleet Auto coverage, and Critical Infrastructure development. AMERIND’s unique structure positions it as a vital partner and service provider dedicated to supporting the economic and social welfare of Native American communities through tailored insurance products and related services.

The role of the Event Planner at AMERIND is an integral part of advancing the organization’s strategic vision by planning and executing a wide array of internal and external events. The Event Planner plays a critical role in organizing the entire event lifecycle from initial concept development through to final execution and post-event evaluation. This includes assessing event objectives, developing creative themes, managing logistics such as venue selection, catering, entertainment, and technical arrangements, and overseeing budgets to ensure cost-effectiveness. Coordination with vendors, internal departments, and stakeholders is essential to deliver high-quality events that uphold AMERIND’s reputation and strengthen community relationships.

Candidates for this role must demonstrate exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, analytical thinking abilities, meticulous attention to detail, and strong project and budget management skills. Flexibility in problem-solving, excellent organizational abilities, negotiation skills, and a customer-oriented approach are essential to effectively serve AMERIND’s diverse constituencies. The Event Planner will work closely with marketing teams and external agencies to implement promotional strategies aimed at maximizing participant engagement and event success. Additionally, the position demands a proactive commitment to compliance with legal, safety, and health regulations pertinent to event management.

The position requires a bachelor’s degree in hospitality, meeting or event planning, or a related field, coupled with at least five years of direct event planning experience. A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel both locally and out-of-state are mandatory. Candidates must successfully pass a comprehensive background check with no felony, theft, or fraud convictions allowed. AMERIND encourages ongoing professional development; the chosen candidate must complete the Associate in Insurance (AINS) designation within six months following their evaluation and pursue elective courses and professional development activities within the first 12 months.

This role involves a dynamic work environment that spans both office settings and event sites. The Event Planner should be prepared for extended periods of sitting and standing, manual dexterity requirements for computer and event setup tasks, and occasional lifting of items over 25 pounds. AMERIND is committed to fostering an inclusive and respectful workplace culture that honors its mission to serve Native American communities. Employees in this position will have opportunities for professional advancement and recognition within a culturally significant framework, making it a uniquely rewarding career choice.
