Job Description
The Fort Worth Zoo is a renowned institution dedicated to the conservation of wildlife and the education and enjoyment of its visitors. Established as one of the leading zoos in Texas, the facility spans numerous acres and houses a diverse range of animal species and engaging exhibits. Known for its commitment to animal welfare and sustainable practices, the Fort Worth Zoo attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors annually, offering unique experiences such as interactive events, educational programs, and group outings. This establishment values professionalism, community involvement, and continuous improvement in all aspects of its operations, creating an enriching environment for both guests and employees.
This position plays a pivotal role in the success of the zoo's special events and group functions by managing all facets of event set-up, operation, and tear-down. Specifically, the role entails overseeing the logistical preparations and execution of various events hosted within the zoo’s premises. Responsibilities include coordinating staff across multiple event support areas such as cleanliness, bar and kitchen operations, restroom attendants, and guest greeting services to ensure a seamless experience. The position demands maintaining the appearance and cleanliness of equipment and event facilities, as well as managing inventory and procurement of necessary supplies. Effective communication and collaboration with internal departments and external vendors are crucial to execute event plans successfully. The role also involves working irregular hours, including nights and weekends, reflecting the nature of events scheduling. Furthermore, this role requires leadership skills to hire, train, schedule, and develop event operations personnel while upholding safety protocols and managing the department budget. The person in this position will be actively involved in special projects aimed at optimizing event logistics, stage maintenance, and overall operational efficiency. If you are passionate about coordinating dynamic events in a vibrant environment and eager to contribute to a world-class zoo’s mission through impactful event management, this opportunity offers a fulfilling career path with competitive benefits.
