Liberty University prides itself on fostering a supportive community environment backed by strong operational support, including well-coordinated events that enhance the experience of its diverse internal and external stakeholders. The university’s Events Office plays a pivotal role in planning, organizing, and executing a wide variety of campus events that cater not only to the university community but also to external clients. This team ensures each event’s logistical needs are met while upholding the institution’s standards and the defining principles of the Liberty Way, which emphasize professionalism, service excellence, and a welcoming atmosphere.
The Summer Temp position at Liberty University’s Events Office is a vital, part-time role designed to support the office’s busy schedule of internal and external events throughout the summer season. This role is ideal for students or professionals looking to gain valuable experience in event coordination, administration, and logistics within a dynamic higher education environment. The position involves a blend of fieldwork—being present on-site at various events such as summer camps, conferences, weddings, and graduations—and office duties, providing comprehensive support to event coordinators and university service personnel. Responsibilities include logistical planning, scheduling events using systems like 25Live, communication with resource teams, and ensuring smooth event operations by monitoring facilities and enforcing campus policies.
In addition to event-related tasks, the Summer Temp assists with organizational duties such as managing camp registration cards, coordinating communication via email, and providing direct support to camp directors and attendees to resolve common issues efficiently. Physical tasks such as lifting and moving small materials are also part of the role, which requires a flexible and proactive individual comfortable working both indoors and outdoors. Strong communication skills are essential as the role demands regular interaction with a broad spectrum of customers including camp directors, external clients, and internal university teams. The position requires multitasking, attention to detail, and the ability to stay composed under pressure, all within a team environment that champions Liberty University’s mission and values.
This Summer Temp role offers a unique opportunity to build skills in event management, customer service, and project coordination while contributing to the successful delivery of a wide array of university events in a vibrant collegiate setting. The position is located on-campus in Lynchburg, Virginia, carries a flexible summer schedule including nights and weekends, and demands a commitment to professional standards and a strong work ethic. Employment is part-time and involves a mix of office-based and on-site responsibilities, making it a versatile and engaging role for motivated candidates eager to enhance their event management and administrative expertise within an established university setting.
