Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Three years of related experience or equivalent combination of experience, education, and training
  • Residency in the state of Georgia
  • Ability to commute to Emory University campus on a flexible weekly schedule
  • Ability to work remotely as permitted by department guidelines
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proficiency with relevant event planning tools
  • Availability to attend continuing education as needed

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • At least three years of related experience in event planning or coordination
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Proficiency with event management software and tools
  • Experience in budgeting and negotiating with vendors
  • Demonstrated creativity and problem-solving abilities
  • Leadership experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Plan and execute meetings, functions, and special events for multiple units and departments
  • Collaborate with staff and clients to establish event goals and objectives
  • Develop and recommend event operating procedures
  • Establish and manage event planning timelines
  • Create task assignments
  • Propose resources needed to execute event
  • Determine fiscal requirements for events
  • Prepare budgetary recommendations
  • Negotiate terms with vendors
  • Work with designers to create invitations, promotional and other printed materials
  • Oversee and facilitate event briefing and coordination of speakers and presenters
  • Provide leadership, direction, and coordination among speakers, staff, and volunteers during event program and production
  • Prepare post-event analysis to assess opportunities and make recommendations for improving events and services
  • Implement recommendations as appropriate
  • Seek out innovative and creative ideas for events through research, networking, and continuing education classes
  • May supervise staff
  • Perform related responsibilities as required
