Job Description

Rock Events is a premier team of event professionals based in Detroit, known for delivering exceptional event production, travel, and hospitality services primarily to corporate and community clients, including the Rocket Family of Companies. Established as part of the Rock Family of Companies, Rock Events brings over 15 years of experience managing some of the city’s largest and most high-profile gatherings. Their reputation is built on a commitment to creativity, exceptional service, and professional expertise, helping clients create memorable and impactful experiences. As specialists in venue sales for some of Detroit’s most sought-after event spaces, they provide clients with a full-service event management experience that includes venue selection, production planning, and flawless execution.

The Event Manager role at Rock Events is a multifaceted and dynamic position crafted for innovative and detail-oriented professionals. This role offers the unique opportunity to lead and execute a wide range of special events, from corporate meetings and experiential activations to incentive travel, parties, award shows, and charity functions. The Event Manager acts as a key driver in bringing the client’s vision to life by combining creative insight with meticulous planning and organizational expertise. They collaborate closely with clients to understand their goals, timelines, and budgets, tailoring each event to surpass expectations.

Responsibilities in this position include soliciting and negotiating quotes for event components such as food and beverage, audiovisual services, transportation, entertainment, décor, and venue arrangements. The Event Manager proposes themes, looks, and elements that ensure a cohesive and impactful narrative for each event. Exceptional event design skills and strategic thinking are critical in delivering immersive experiences that resonate with audiences and elevate brand presence.

Beyond creativity, the Event Manager must possess strong organizational capabilities – developing detailed planning cadences, timelines, and run-of-show documents that keep all internal teams, vendors, clients, and leadership aligned from initial planning phases through to event load-in, showtime, and load-out. This role requires managing event expenses, processing payments, and maintaining accurate financial tracking to ensure transparent reporting and budget adherence.

The position also involves sourcing ideal event locations and coordinating travel arrangements, especially for incentive trips and out-of-town events, ensuring seamless logistics. Additional leadership responsibilities include managing event registrations, supervising volunteer teams, overseeing stage management, and working alongside the Event Graphic Design team to produce collateral like emails, presentations, registration materials, surveys, and printed media.

Rock Events fosters a collaborative, innovative, and culturally attuned work environment where storytelling and forward-thinking perspectives are celebrated. The Event Manager will have opportunities to mentor Event Production interns, contributing to the growth and professional development within the team. This role is an excellent career path for creative professionals passionate about experiential events and brand activations, keen to leverage trend insights and technological advances to craft culturally relevant and engaging events that connect with diverse audiences.

The company values inclusivity and equal opportunity in employment, strictly adhering to federal and state regulations to prevent discrimination and bias in hiring. Reasonable accommodations are provided for qualified applicants with disabilities. Rock Events is committed to the health and well-being of its team members, offering comprehensive benefits to support a balanced and fulfilling professional and personal life.
