Job Description
Maggiano's Little Italy, a renowned Italian-American restaurant chain known for its classic dining experience and exceptional service, is located at 1201 Filbert St., Philadelphia, PA 19107. Since its founding, Maggiano's has become a preferred venue for guests seeking an authentic Italian dining atmosphere with a focus on high-quality food and impeccable service. Serving both casual meals and large events, Maggiano's is committed to creating memorable experiences for every guest through a blend of traditional cuisine, warm hospitality, and elegant event settings.
The Event Manager at Maggiano's Little Italy in Philadelphia plays a crucial role in upholding the restaurant's standards by ensuring the seamless execution of all banquet events. This full-time position involves overseeing every aspect of event planning and management after the event has been booked and handed over from the sales team. The Event Manager is responsible for coordinating room setups, seating arrangements, event timelines, staffing, menu details, and other related activities to guarantee that each event is executed flawlessly and aligns with guest expectations.
Working collaboratively with the Sales Manager, Culinary, and Restaurant Leadership teams, the Event Manager acts as the central point of contact throughout the event lifecycle—from the initial planning stages through successful execution. The role requires meticulous attention to detail to review contracts, banquet event orders (BEOs), and event notes for accuracy and completeness. Additionally, the Event Manager creates and manages event timelines, layouts, seating charts, and room assignments tailored to meet the unique requirements of each event.
Operational leadership is a key responsibility, which includes recruiting, training, coaching, and managing the performance of banquet staff to maintain high standards of service excellence. The Event Manager also ensures that banquet rooms are set up according to specified diagrams and guest needs, while managing inventory of linens, audiovisual equipment, and other banquet essentials.
Financial and performance management duties are integral to this role, with oversight on profitability through labor, food cost, and expense controls. The Event Manager supports menu pricing and updates and actively reviews event performance to address any service recovery needs. Tracking key performance indicators and guest experience metrics ensures continuous improvement in banquet services.
Cross-functional partnerships with Sales Managers, IT, and vendor partners are essential to guarantee smooth event handoffs and efficient management of banquet systems, telecommunication devices, printers, and customer relationship management (CRM) tools. The Event Manager is responsible for maintaining banquet event systems, room setup libraries, and menu files and ensures the accuracy of all event documentation and reporting related to revenue and guest feedback.
This position requires a minimum of three years’ experience in hotel, catering, or banquet operations, with a strong background in leading event execution and service teams. Candidates must possess solid knowledge of banquet service standards and room setups, proficiency in reading and executing BEOs, layouts, and event contracts, as well as exceptional organizational, multitasking, guest service, and conflict-resolution skills. A flexible schedule, including availability for nights, weekends, and holidays, is necessary.
Maggiano's Little Italy offers a dynamic and rewarding work environment where passionate professionals can grow their careers in hospitality and event management with a well-established company that values exceptional guest experiences. This role reflects Maggiano's commitment to service excellence and continuous improvement in delivering unforgettable dining and event occasions for all guests.
