Job Description
Rock Events is a premiere team of event professionals dedicated to delivering exceptional event production, business travel, and hospitality services primarily to Rocket Companies, as well as managing venue sales for some of Detroit's most sought-after event spaces. Established more than 15 years ago as part of the Rock Family of Companies, Rock Events has grown to become an integral part of Detroit's vibrant event scene, overseeing some of the city's largest and most prestigious gatherings. The company is known for its commitment to excellence, innovative event design, seamless execution, and outstanding customer service, providing clients with unforgettable experiences that align with their brand vision and goals.
As an Event Manager at Rock Events, you will be entrusted with the creative and strategic conceptualization, planning, and execution of a diverse range of special events such as meetings, experiential activations, incentive travel, parties, award shows, charity functions, and more. This role requires an individual with high levels of creativity, strong design skills, and the ability to think strategically to craft compelling, memorable experiences for clients. You will be responsible for collaborating closely with clients to understand their objectives, assessing timelines and budgets to ensure projects are delivered on time and within financial parameters. Your expertise will be critical in soliciting and negotiating quotes for various event elements including food and beverage selections, audiovisual services, transportation, entertainment, decor, and venue arrangements.
In this position, you will propose theming, the overall look and feel, and other essential components of events to clients, ensuring that every element aligns with the intended atmosphere and brand messaging. You will develop detailed planning cadences and timelines, keeping all stakeholders, including planners, vendors, clients, and leadership, informed with ongoing updates. Creating comprehensive run-of-show documents that cover every stage of the event—from load-in to load-out—will be part of your responsibilities, ensuring smooth and flawless execution.
Managing event expenses will be a crucial aspect of your role, as you oversee the entire financial process from initial quotes through requisitions, payments, and expense tracking for reporting purposes. Your skill in sourcing suitable city locations, venues, travel arrangements, and additional event components will be vital for incentive trips and out-of-town events. In addition, you will handle the logistics of the registration process, manage the volunteer workforce during events, and take charge of stage management to ensure seamless event flow.
You will collaborate with the Event Graphic Design team to produce vital communications and materials such as emails, presentations, registrations, post-event surveys, and printed collateral, enhancing the overall event experience. As a leader, you will also supervise Event Production interns, fostering talent development and contributing to the growth of the team.
This role calls for a dynamic, highly organized individual with exceptional attention to detail and strong communication skills. Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel, is required to manage complex planning and budgeting tasks. Above all, you should bring a passion for storytelling through event design, leveraging trends, technology, and cultural insights to create forward-thinking and culturally relevant experiences that resonate with attendees.
The Event Manager position at Rock Events offers the opportunity to work in an environment that values innovation, creativity, and the well-being of its team members. Eligible employees enjoy a range of perks and health benefits designed to support not only their professional growth but also their personal health and happiness. Rock Events fosters an inclusive and accommodating workplace culture, committed to providing reasonable accommodations to qualified individuals with disabilities and ensuring equal employment opportunity without discrimination.
