The Lakehouse Resort, nestled on the sunny shores of Lake San Marcos, is a distinguished hotel and resort known for its blend of affordable luxury and exceptional guest service. An integral role within this team is the Event Manager, who shoulders the responsibility of managing and executing events, with a particular focus on weddings. The Event Manager’s role is pivotal in ensuring every client’s vision is actualized, orchestrating the planning, coordination, and seamless execution of events from inception to conclusion.
The Event Manager at Lakehouse Resort must exhibit a proactive 'can-do' attitude alongside strong relationship-building skills, facilitating exceptional customer service and client satisfaction. This position requires meticulous attention to detail in wedding planning and the ability to handle multiple vendor and internal departmental interactions. Responsibilities include negotiating contracts, coordinating food and beverage menus, décor, and entertainment options, managing event budgets, and leading a team through the event lifecycle. The Event Manager also plays a strategic role in promoting the hotel and its event spaces, setting and meeting booking goals, maintaining sales records, and participating actively in revenue strategy meetings. In addition, the role involves professional representation of the resort at industry trade shows, sales calls, and networking events.
This position demands excellent verbal and written communication skills, proficiency with software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and hotel management systems like Opera or Oracle Cloud, and a leadership mindset focused on coaching and mentoring team members. Job Duties
- Emphasize wedding planning, detailing, and execution
- provide exceptional customer service through relationship development with clients
- gather information about client objectives, budget, and preferences
- provide advice and suggestions regarding food and beverage menus, decor, and entertainment
- create schedules of all activities for staff to follow during events
- communicate with all vendors and suppliers before, during, and after events
- manage event budgets to ensure costs stay within budget
- work with banquet department staff including servers, kitchen staff, and other workers
- prepare correspondence for clients, internal booking reports and file maintenance
- demonstrate professional presentation skills at industry trade shows, sales calls and networking functions
- maintain awareness with key account contacts and sales calls
- meet monthly booking goals as indicated by the Annual Business Plan and Budget
- communicate all account information to appropriate departments via hotel systems
- sell the hotel aggressively using a solution-based approach
- maintain knowledge of competition and market conditions
- maintain integrity of sales records and reports including sales database, account files, and sales forecast
- participate in revenue strategy and forecast meetings
- participate in team brainstorming, staff meetings, and client events
- conduct site inspections and escort client visits
- promote the hotel through regular industry involvement
