Job Description

Seattle Convention Center (SCC) is a premier venue located in the vibrant core of downtown Seattle, hosting a diverse array of meetings, events, and conventions. Serving as a major hub where people from around the region, nation, and world gather to share ideas, celebrate, and learn, SCC is much more than a meeting space. The Center is deeply committed to making a positive impact on the community, advancing the common good, and carrying forward a legacy of civic engagement that spans more than three decades. Employees at SCC are central to maintaining an extraordinary service culture that supports the Center’s success and reputation as a landmark destination in Seattle.

The role of Event Manager at SCC is a dynamic and integral position that requires managing the full lifecycle of assigned events – from initial planning and coordination to the seamless execution within the facility. As the primary client contact, the Event Manager oversees operational resources, including staff, vendors, contractors, and service partners, ensuring that events are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards. This role demands exceptional organizational skills and the ability to handle events of varying sizes, attendance, and revenue levels, exercising independent judgment to resolve operational issues as they arise during live events.

Event Managers at SCC are responsible for venue readiness, financial accuracy of events, and coordinating across multiple departments to meet operational and customer service objectives. The position requires a flexible schedule, including working evenings, weekends, and holidays, depending on event activity. This role offers a competitive salary ranging from $85,000 to $105,000 annually based on experience and qualifications, along with comprehensive benefits.

Successful candidates will manage detailed event plans, schedules, floor plans, and service orders, ensuring compliance with safety standards and fire code requirements. They lead planning meetings and site visits, maintain strong professional relationships with clients and contractors, and oversee safety and emergency procedures for events. The position requires the ability to lift and move items occasionally as part of the physical demands. Overall, the Event Manager is a pivotal figure in delivering memorable and successful events, contributing not only to SCC’s operational excellence but also to its community-oriented mission.
