Job Description

The Meadowlands Chamber is a well-established and forward-thinking business service organization dedicated to fostering business growth, economic development, destination marketing, and community advancement in the greater Meadowlands region. With a deep commitment to creativity, innovation, and collaboration, the Chamber offers a vibrant and rewarding work culture where every team member’s contributions make a significant impact on the success of both its members and the local community. As a pivotal player in supporting regional businesses, the Meadowlands Chamber maintains strong ties with affiliate organizations, helping to create a thriving environment for commerce and community interaction. The Chamber’s mission focuses on elevating the business landscape by providing valuable programming, promoting effective networking opportunities, and advocating for economic progress that benefits the entire Meadowlands area.

The role of Events Manager at the Meadowlands Chamber is a key leadership position that plays a crucial role in the planning, execution, and marketing of all events managed by the Chamber and its affiliates. This position is essential in crafting exceptional experiences that support the Chamber’s goals of member engagement, revenue growth, and brand visibility within the regional business community. The Events Manager is responsible for developing and implementing innovative event strategies that highlight opportunities for business learning, fund-raising, and networking, all while ensuring operational excellence and a seamless attendee experience. Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Chamber & CVB Operations, the Events Manager must demonstrate creative thinking, resourcefulness, and a high level of professionalism.

In addition to managing the full spectrum of event logistics—including venue selection, vendor coordination, audiovisual needs, décor, seating arrangements, and run-of-show creation—the Events Manager takes charge of marketing efforts, utilizing digital, social media, and email channels to promote events effectively. A key focus of this position is sponsorship revenue development, working to build and strengthen corporate partnerships that support the financial health and reach of Chamber events. The Events Manager will lead budgeting, forecasting, and profit and loss tracking in collaboration with the Director of Accounting to ensure profitability and fiscal responsibility.

Beyond the operational and financial responsibilities, the Events Manager also oversees volunteer and intern involvement during premier events, ensuring smooth onsite registration and sponsor recognition efforts. Post-event evaluation and documentation play a critical role in refining future events, allowing the Chamber to maintain a best practices library that supports continuous improvement. This role demands a proactive, collaborative approach, and the ability to work within a flexible schedule that includes early mornings, evenings, and occasional weekends as required by event schedules.

Candidates for this role should possess 2 to 4 years of proven event management experience within nonprofit, association, hospitality, or corporate environments, accompanied by strong interpersonal and communication skills that emphasize professional customer service. Experience with sponsorship sales or partnership development and proficiency in Microsoft Office and creative design software like Canva, InDesign, Illustrator, or Photoshop are valuable assets. The preferred educational background includes a bachelor’s degree or certification in event management, though relevant experience may also be considered.

The Meadowlands Chamber utilizes advanced event technology tools, including a membership CRM system with a comprehensive Events Module linked to its website and communication capabilities, as well as third-party applications like Constant Contact for email marketing and Canva for flyer production. The performance of the Events Manager will be measured based on key performance indicators such as sponsorship revenue growth, attendance targets, member engagement increases, event return on investment, and successful cost savings or outcomes from vendor negotiations. This dynamic role offers an excellent opportunity for a dedicated professional to contribute meaningfully to the growth and success of a respected regional chamber of commerce while advancing their career in event management.
