Job Description

The Absentee Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma operates the Norman and Shawnee Casinos, renowned entertainment destinations that blend tribal heritage with modern gaming and hospitality experiences. As a significant part of the tribe's economic development, these casinos are committed to offering guests exceptional service, exciting promotions, and memorable events. The establishments provide employment opportunities that emphasize community values, cultural respect, and advancing tribal sovereignty through sustainable business growth. Located in Oklahoma, the casinos are vibrant venues that host a range of gaming, dining, and entertainment attractions designed to appeal to local and regional patrons.

Within this energetic environment, the role of Event Coordinator is integral to the Marketing Department. Reporting directly to the Marketing Director, the Event Coordinator plays a pivotal role in supporting the marketing initiatives of both the Norman and Shawnee Casinos. This non-exempt position is geared towards ensuring successful planning, promotion, and execution of diverse events that elevate the casino's brand and enhance customer engagement. Key responsibilities include assisting with promotions, managing vendor relations, coordinating event logistics, and supporting social media and advertising campaigns. This role demands a creative, detail-oriented professional who thrives in a dynamic and fast-paced setting.

The Event Coordinator is tasked with organizing high-profile events such as VIP experiences, anniversary celebrations, player appreciation nights, and various casino promotions. This requires close collaboration with internal teams, vendors, and external stakeholders to deliver seamless and impactful events that reflect the brand identity of Thunderbird Casino. The coordinator also contributes to content creation for digital and traditional marketing channels, assists in developing marketing materials, and helps track campaign performance to optimize event reach and effectiveness.

The position demands adaptability, as working hours will vary based on event schedules and may include nights, weekends, and holidays. Given the nature of casino operations, the Event Coordinator must also be knowledgeable about relevant state, tribal, and federal gaming laws and regulations, ensuring compliance throughout all marketing and event activities.

This role is ideal for individuals with experience or interest in event planning, social media management, and casino marketing. The coordinator should possess strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and a guest-focused approach to foster positive relationships with guests, staff, and community members. Proficiency with social media platforms and graphic design tools is highly desirable to enhance promotional efforts. Moreover, the candidate must be capable of handling multiple tasks, managing priorities under pressure, and maintaining a calm demeanor in a busy, sometimes noisy, casino environment.

Overall, the Event Coordinator position at the Absentee Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma’s casinos offers a unique opportunity to contribute to culturally significant and economically impactful Tribal enterprises. The role is not only about marketing and event management but also about supporting tribal sovereignty and community development through innovative and engaging customer experiences. This comprehensive role provides a platform for professional growth in a rewarding and culturally rich setting.
