Job Description

SET SEG is a well-established non-profit organization dedicated to supporting Michigan public schools through comprehensive employee benefit solutions and risk management services. Founded in the early 1970s, SET SEG has evolved to meet the dynamic needs of educational institutions by offering workers' compensation and property/casualty services tailored specifically for the school sector. The organization prides itself on delivering peace of mind to Michigan public schools by combining superior member experiences with innovative and specialized solutions. SET SEG is deeply committed to working collaboratively with school leaders and personnel to enhance educational environments across the state. The company fosters an inclusive and supportive workplace culture that values proactive problem-solving, customer-first mentality, and a collaborative spirit. Employees at SET SEG benefit from 100% employer-paid insurance coverage including medical, dental, and vision plans, as well as paid time off and paid parental leave, reflecting the organization’s dedication to work-life balance and employee well-being. SET SEG continues to be an industry leader in school risk management, marked by its ongoing growth and adaptation to the challenges faced by public schools in Michigan.

The Event Coordinator role at SET SEG is a pivotal position within the Marketing and Communications department, reporting directly to the Marketing and Communications Manager. This role is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing a variety of member-facing events that strengthen relationships, support member retention and business development, and showcase SET SEG's commitment to Michigan public schools. The Event Coordinator plays a strategic role in enhancing the organization’s visibility and engagement within the communities it serves. Responsibilities include managing event logistics such as venue booking, catering, registrations, travel arrangements, and audio-visual technology. The coordinator ensures that every event reflects the organization’s brand values and delivers a seamless and meaningful experience from initial invitation through post-event follow-up. Additionally, this role involves maintaining and growing partnerships with key associations, building rapport with venues and hosts, and identifying new opportunities for engagement through sponsorships and collaborative events.

The ideal candidate for this position is a creative, detail-oriented, and process-driven professional energized by teamwork and collaboration. The coordinator should have strong organizational skills and be comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines. Flexibility and resourcefulness are essential, as is the ability to problem-solve quickly during live events. This position also requires excellent communication skills and the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with various stakeholders. Experience with event technology platforms such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and registration software is highly valued. Travel within Michigan is a part of this role, including some overnight and multi-day trips to support events. SET SEG embraces a culture of respect, inclusivity, and continuous learning, looking for team members who are motivated by the mission to support public education through innovative risk management and employee benefits solutions.
